Product Description

Album Description

AURA takes Ashmore in a new direction with more emphasis on Trance-Pop. Released in early 2003 it shows a greater maturity in the song writing skills of Hunter and Power venturing deeper into dance, trance, and techno yet still managing to keep the pop vocals and unforgettable tunes. Songs such as "Good and Bad" were played in various UK clubs in the Summer of 2002, and remixes are to be played in Ibiza 2003.

From the Artist

This album has gained great interest from professional DJs, clubs, compilation CD companies, radio stations, advertisers, and magazines. Future Music magazine described Aura as "Well produced Rock/Dance crossover aka Crystal Method". DJ Louca and DJ Lucci have been quoted in "Life" magazine as saying "Ashmore can be compared to the likes of Dirty Vegas".

4.0 out of 5 stars Another show-stopper!, 10 April 2003

They've done it again! Only this time, its even better than before!

Aura contrasts Ashmore's first album, 'East', with more techno and trancy vibes and blips. New synths have come in and pushed aside some of Power's classical ideas. Martin Hunter has really come out of his shell!!!

Good & Bad, which has had an overwhelming interest from many different people, labels and clubs, feeds from the creative energy that made the pair famous: Oppenheimer.
As requested, Ashmore has produced an album of Oppenheimer-inspired classics!

East, the first album, felt too experimental. I don't think they had really discovered their identity and established it properly. I mean, asian tones and beats, techno, classical? To me, it sounded more like a demo CD, simply displaying their pair's talents. Don't get me wrong, it was a work of genius, but it wasn't identifiable as Ashmore unless you knew all the tracks to start with. But that's where they have done their clever work this time! They have moved slightly away from the 'urasian fusion' genre and more towards Hunter's techno/trance tastes, placing Ashmore in a much larger and accessible market.

Sean Power's acoustics play an important part in the new tracks, although they are much more subtle. They serve to compliment the trance synths, and to great effect. You will most probably not notice them straight away, and that's the beauty of Ashmore. Each time you listen, you'll hear a different sample, and different meaning. If a picture can tell a thousand words, Aura can tell you a hundred time that and the meaning behind every word........

But!....... You may be wondering why I have only given Aura 4/5 stars, if I think it is so good? Well... this is only their second album and i think they have a lot more to offer, still! (Constructive criticism)

And remember:
Lazy is CRAZY!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Aura, 5 Feb 2006
By A Customer
This review is from: Aura (Audio CD)
Having bought "East" and "Aura" from Amazon around the same time, I spent the Christmas vacation listening to them both. "Aura" kicks off a little differently from "East" and veers more towards four-on-the-floor dance. The catchy pop tunes are still there and the intelligent lyrics remain intact which is what I like most about the album. There are more dance tunes and the whole album carries along at quite a pace without any slow down for ballads, which is what the previous album "East" tended to do. In fact there is a massive 15-minute hard dance track at the end of the album which is my favourite track of the entire album and really gets your foot tapping. I like both albums very much and would put "Aura" on for driving and "East" on at home in the evening.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well put together techno with different flavours/influences, 7 May 2003
This review is from: Aura (Audio CD)
The thing I like about this albumn is that it seems to have alot of influences from eastern music, folk acoustic and modern techno and yet still retains a really driving beat and energy
