Product Description

This stylish, remote controlled mini MP3 Alarm Clock Radio is great for waking up to your favourite tunes, improving those tinny laptop speakers or making mobile phone mp3's sound like they're supposed to.

With USB in, an SD card reader and 3.5mm audio input this little music box can make MP3's from almost any source sound great. Just in case your phones not covered, August have even included a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adaptor and a Sony Ericson headphone to 3.5mm adaptor in the box.

3 different wake up modes are available for the alarm, you can choose to be beeped awake, woken by MP3 or to have the Radio come on first thing in the morning. And as the time is backed up by 2xAAA batteries, unexpected power cuts shouldn't leave you fiddling around resetting times.

For portable use, the internal battery is good for approximately 5 hours of playback, great for an afternoon by the sea or to keep you entertained by the barbeque.

Small yet surprisingly powerful, the device weighs in at just 525g and its dimensions are: 130x90x95mm, small and light enough for carrying in a rucksack or picnic hamper.

For this price it can't get any better.
The plus:
-Very acceptable sound quality
-Easy to use
-Assignable mp3 for wake up alarm
-Remote control with ALL the functions (no getting out of bed at night to set it)
-Dual usage battery/AC adapter. The rechargeable battery lasts for weeks.
-Thermometer

The minus:
-Buttons are really hard to press
-The angle of the screen is set to be looked at from very high up
-No mp3 information or navigation, just numbers (so you must know which track number you want)
-The alarm doesn't play the full length of the mp3. It stops at about a minute or two later. (sometimes not enough to wake me up)

Bought one of these last week.
The sound when playing from and SD card is actually pretty good for such a small device.
Unfortunately the charging lead that came with it didn't fit the socket tightly so it wouldn't charge....no matter, i had an old 5v cable from an old mobile phone that worked in it's place.

It's the design though that lets it down ........

1. The screen is only lit up for a few seconds when you press a button, so if you are using it as an alarm clock in your (supposedly dark) bedroom you can't see the time unless you fumble about and press the button...how stupid is that !
2. The buttons on the front of the device are stiff to press so you need to hold it down while you press them or it will just skid away
3. There's no real navigation for music on USB stick or SD card...only back one song or forward one song....so if you want to start at the 50th song on your card get ready for a lot of button pressing !!
4. I tried playing straight from my Creative Zen mp3 player (connected via the included 3.5mm lead). This was much preferable as the player has better navigation options, but there was a low hum present all the time.

All in all, you've got to take the price into account and it does do a lot considering it's so cheap...so nearly a great device :-(

I read all the reviews before purchasing and agree with most of the other comments;

- I agree the buttons are a little hard to press but I use the remote instead so that doesn't worry me overly
- I used the radio as the alarm only once, lol, as someone else warned it is set automatically at volume 3 which makes for rather a startling wake up! No matter I now use the bell instead :o) I could use the mp3 player set to a quiet track (I read you can do this somewhere on here, but haven't tried it yet) and I am sure that would be fine too.
- I am very pleased with the sound quality and volume level one is perfectly adequate for me most of the time!!
- Not having a lit display during the night is fine by me too, there is a street light outside my window that already casts enough light into my room for "background lighting".
- I was worried when I noticed bumping noise interference on the radio and mp3 setting the first night I used the MB300 but when I revisited the reviews here I read that the charger is only really to be used to charge rather than as an AC supply (I don't think this is all too clear in the little booklet), so as the unit had been charged I took the usb charger out and the interference disappeared, yey! The charge lasts very well and there is a battery backup so the alarm will still function anyway.
- My kids ipod shuffles can be connected up and played through too so I am seriously thinking about coming back for two more now!

All in all I think it is a great little product for a very small price!
