5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Live Album [Vinyl] 21 Jun 2012
Format:Vinyl|Verified Purchase
I was skeptical about purchasing August And Everything After (Live), considering I own the actual album. This version is better, in my opinion than the studio version. The band mix songs together such as Round Here-Raining In Baltimore which is sensational to listen to. The vinyl addition too is great. It comes with some amazing photographs on the inside.

This is a classic live album and captures the moment just right. Great songs sung & performed equally well if not better than the studio versions.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost as good as the first time. 29 Aug 2011
By H3@+h - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
I remember I once disliked this band, but that was before I actually owned "August and Everything After". Now I reach for that disc as often as my Neil Young and Jayhawks cd's. Well, maybe not Neil. If Counting Crows were gonna do one of their albums live, this was obviously the one to do. It's like half hits. Their "best of" collection was half their debut. All the songs are excellent, which made for one of the best albums of the 90's.

I think the live versions here are great. If nothing else it's nice to hear them freshened up. They stretch them out and let them breathe without changing the basic song beyond recognition. Not better, but different. Good different.

You could tell "Counting Crows" were shooting for "REM/U2" status with the debut, and while they may not have become a 5 star band, they did make a 5 star album. They almost did it again here.

3.0 out of 5 stars An Average Live Show 17 Sep 2011
By B. Murray - Published on Amazon.com

Counting Crows have been one my favorite bands for nearly twenty years now. Their debut album (August) is still an amazing album from start to finish. Though I love hearing and seeing them live, I have to say that this is just an average show. For those unfamiliar with their other live stuff or newer material, this is an OK place to start, but while there are a few standout tracks, there are several that add little to the originals. I also didn't think Adam's voice was as strong on this as it could be. For a terrific live album, I would highly recommend Across A Wire, which is easily a five star record. I was able to buy this on Amazon as a five dollar MP3 deal. It was easily worth that much. Even bad recordings of this band are better than a lot of stuff that's out there.

3.0 out of 5 stars ahh, the melodrama 2 Sep 2011

yes, the band is tight, the songs adventurous, the recording of the show conveys an exciting performance, but...the vocals, especially during the first half of the show: adam, you do have a penchant for emoting overly much, sometimes to the point of distraction. there are times when easing in is better than tearing the door down. and your songs work to greater effect when you are you, not van or bruce or bob.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great show 27 Jun 2012

A few notes on this release:

* It is a live show where the band plays the August and Everything album through
* It is a double LP in a gatefold jacket
* Pressed on white vinyl

The show is fantastic. One of the great American bands revisiting one of the great releases of the 90s. This many years after the original studio release the tunes have changed, but they remain great. The vinyl pressing is really good quality and brings the show to life.

5.0 out of 5 stars New Twist! 16 Sep 2011

This album is just amazing. Counting Crows are a great live band and this album proves it. You can really hear the passion behind this group of songs that made this band popular in the 90s. I highly recommend this cd to any Counting Crows fans. This album offers a different perspective from the original album so it feels like you're buying a new cd. Enjoy.
