  • Forest HDMI embodies all of AudioQuest's core philosophies on cable design. Forest employs solid Long-Grain Copper conductors, Solid High-Density Polyethylene Insulation, and precise signal geometry. Specific attention has been paid to maximizing the performance of HDMI, and indeed, AudioQuest's HDMI cables push sonic performance to new levels.
  • ETHERNET AND AUDIO RETURN CHANNEL ENABLED: All AudioQuest HDMI cables up to 10 meters are rated High Speed with Ethernet. From 12 meters to 20 meters AudioQuest HDMI cables are Standard Speed with Ethernet.
  • SOLID 0.5% SILVER CONDUCTORS: Solid conductors eliminate strand-interaction distortion and reduce jitter. Solid silver-plated conductors are excellent for very high-frequency applications, like HDMI audio and video. These signals, being such a high frequency, travel almost exclusively on the surface of the conductor. As the surface is made of high-purity silver, the performance is very close to that of a solid silver cable, but priced much closer to solid copper cable. This is an incredibly cost effective way of manufacturing very high-quality HDMI cables.
  • FOAMED-POLYETHYLENE INSULATION: Any solid material adjacent to a conductor is actually part of an imperfect circuit. Wire insulation and circuit board materials all absorb energy (loss). Some of this energy is stored and then released as distortion. Forest HDMI uses air-filled Foamed-Polyethylene Insulation because air absorbs next to no energy and Polyethylene is low-loss and has a benign distortion profile. Thanks to all the air in Foamed-PE, it causes much less of the out-of-focus effect common to other materials.
  • HIGH SPEED DATA CAPACITY: All AudioQuest HDMI cables up to 10 meters meet or exceed the 10.2 Gbps maximum data rate for HDMI and are approved High Speed with Ethernet cables. This means that all AudioQuest cables up to 10 meters are capable of transmitting 100% of the data required for all of HDMI's current audio/video features including multichannel high-resolution audio, 1080p and 4k video, and 3D video from Blu-ray. All AQ HDMI cables will deliver 100% of the data required for 120Hz/240Hz/600Hz displays.

All AQ HDMI cables will deliver 100% of the data required for 120Hz/240Hz/600Hz displays. DIRECTIONALITY: All audio cables are directional. The correct direction is determined by listening to every batch of metal conductors used in every AudioQuest audio cable. All signal conductors controlled for digital-audio direction in AudioQuest HDMI cables, and care is even taken to run the conductors used in the Audio Return Channel in the opposite direction to ensure the best performance for that application. Arrows are clearly marked on the connectors to ensure superior sound quality.

If you own a decent (and probably expensive) sound or home theatre system it makes no sense whatever to connect the components with cheap interconnects. All the time and expense that has gone into ensuring high quality audio and visual signal output can be wasted if those signals are degraded by you plugging in a cheap no brand wire. Poor materials and design can cause degredation through inductive or capacitive reactance effects for instance, surface oxidation, or variable resistance at the plugs due to weak or loose jointing - which will be seen in the form of things like artefacts, jitter or a flat looking image that lacks sparkle, or in audio that lacks punch or insight. Pay no attention to the advertising hype, if you pay a fiver for an hdmi cable it aint gonna be very good. Linear crystal oxygen free copper, silver and gold plating and high quality screening all cost money, as does high precision manufacturing. You pay for what you get! This range is nowhere near the stratospheric audiophile standards of multiple thousands of pounds per interconnect (yes, seriously) but it certainly is in an entirely different and way higher league than the likes of your standard Belkin or anything you'd find outside a properly serious hi-fi shop.

And what you get with the Audioquest Forest is an award winning and very good quality interconnect. I use both the 0.6m and 5m versions as interconnects and the difference they make is tangible. I was rewarded with a rock steady image with deep and vibrant colours, and on the audio side I get an uncoloured sound that's rich and detailed.

By the way, Audioquest Forest is rated for 100% transmission of data required for 120Hz, 240Hz and 600Hz displays.

Audioquest Forest 16 Jun. 2014

Decent HDMI Cable, but for my system in my opinion degraded the sound. I am currently using a Sony thick insulated HDMI cable. For most people with home theaters in a box or systems without discrete components or higher level equipment I may not hear the difference between HDMI cables. I could definitely hear the difference between the two cords, in fact I could hear the difference when I switched the direction of my current Sony HDMI cable. Bottom line, if you have a "nice" home theater set-up, I would look at Audioquest HDMI cables that are more expensive if you want a positive difference in sound. My system consists of KEF Reference 1990's era speakers, recent Sony ES receiver, Audioquest Rocket 44 speaker cables and Pangea power cables for the receiver and PS3.

My system consisted of moderate level speaker cables, such as Audioquest Rocket 44 speaker cables,
clarity and perception is everything 9 Dec. 2014

I recently purchased this for an average Blu Ray player to a mid-level Sony receiver (STR-DN840) which is Sony's 2013 800 series model. Can I really tell a difference between this short length AudioQuest HDMI cable from the previous (generic) one I had? I think I can but only for one scenario, so let me explain.

I think I hear a bit more clarity when using my Audio-Technica headphones plugged into the receiver. Perception is everything when evaluating something that's hard to measure, right? The cymbals crash with a bit more definition and the bass is a bit punchier, that's about as far as I'm going to go. Where I really don't believe it's made a difference is using the Blu Ray player and receiver with my 7.2 speaker setup. The difference I think I'm hearing with the closed headphones is the only opinion I have to offer someone thinking about purchasing this cable.
.5% silver in the new forest. 1 Feb. 2014

I have a 3 meter of this one and it is a great cable. It does what all 1.4 cables do visually. and provides all that you would hope , sonically this is said to be one of the best. at it's price range. Visually it does no better than other cables rated as 1.4 probably. I don't know, it's a well built cable and it will deliver all of the signal without failing though. Cheaper cables are not as durable or well built in that regard.. So it will do , like all 1.4's , 4k, 3d, and such but it also does Ethernet. Which I don't have to worry about. I have had audioquest bables for over a decade and have had to upgrade them as time went on. This one does feature .5% silver , plating, which is pretty cool too. I had two x's that were 1.3 and 1.25% and they did a great job for many years as well. This is a classy hdmi cable , like all of audioquests cables. Like I said , most hdmi cables visually which are the same standard , are very similar , but sonically the silver may make a difference on that end. If you want a classy cable that is LESS expensive than the next silver plated line , then this is for you. the truth is that if you paid much more than this , you wouldn't notice a difference anyways. this gets 100% of the signal to your receiver. so do lesser cables but this one is a great cable done by masters of the field. So it has the snob factor as well! without the giant cost , or even steeper cost of the next higher cable.

I don't know what to add from my review of the Audioquest Pearl HDMI cable ... I liked the Pearl so much that I tried a higher rated cable, the Forest. I have this cable from my Blu-Ray DVD player to my VIZO 65" LED/LCD TV - it really does make the picture better! At least in my view - others may not see a difference, but I would be surprised.
