This is a really good turntable and is clearly based on the very much more expensive Techniics 1200 series. It was quite clear to me that for the UK market a Cartridge was not supplied and anyway the ATP-2 Cartridge in the American model is relatively cheap ( less than $50 ) and with a very high tracking weight so I would not want it anyway. My box had a very large label on it stating that no Cartridge was supplied.I bought the AT 95E at £33.50 and it is an excellent MM Cartridge with a low tracking force. The set up and use of the turntable is very straightforward and the only thing missing from the Manual is the Stylus Overhang data which is the same as Technics at 52mm. There have been comments about the the quality of Line output using the in built RIAA equalisation, I found it fairly good but the Phono output was significantly improved by adding an external Phono Pre Amp. I have also seen comments about there being no Auto Play function which I don't find a problem and excludes un-necessary mechanics. If you want Auto get a cheap Record Player !
The software supplied for recording LP's is a bit tricky to use and not really specific to the task. The software supplied with the NAD Pre Amp is much better for this use but upgrade from the Lite to the full version for more options and functions.
If you want good quality playing of your Vinyl's and the ability to digitize them I don't believe there is anything better for the price even with the added cost of a Cartridge.
