This is pocket sized I'll give it that. But it wasn't quite what I was expecting, but for the price perhaps i was expecting too much.
One side has very central Auckland in good detail, all small roads named etc however the other side has the whole of Auckland. It really is just an overview, i can't see it being that helpful for navigation or finding a particular street as only the main roads are named.

I bought this map expecting it to be something like what the AAA publishes for American cities. Instead, the map contained very little information about Auckland. It is definitely not worth the $5.64 I paid for the map.

I should have trusted the other review on this Explorer Auckland mini-map. It's printed on two sides: the larger scale has little useful information beyond some major roads and neighborhood names. The more detailed map is difficult to read and at too large a scale (1:20,000) to be of use to the tourist on foot. A more useful map might have provided a detailed street view of the harbor area bounded by routes 1 and 16 with some noteworthy highlights. Sadly, this map falls far short.
I think that I'll just depend primarily on my Lonely Planet and Rough Guide books when visiting early next year.
