" Auchtermatic" is more than likey the final CD ever recorded by Scottish vocal phenom "Billy Mackenzie". His operatic vocals are all over this CD immersed with songs of grandeur, levity, dance, heartbreak and poignancy. Billy Mackenzie's voice could hit many octaves. I always prefered the tender ballads over the pulsating uptempo ones. Highlights are "The Soul That Sings", " Here Comes The Rain Again", "Velvet", "Norma Jean" and the ultimate Billy Mackenzie song aptly titled "Pain In Any Language". The incredibly talented vocalist died from a drug overdose in the aftermath of his mother's death. He spent his final hours and days with his beloved pet whippet dogs. Bono, Morrissey and Jim Kerr revered the late, great and kind Billy Mackenzie.
