Celine Dion's parallel French/English recording career continues to
deliver so many joys. The last time I listened to her was with her
terrific big-haired, big-voiced English-language outing 'Taking Chances'
(Mrs Wolf got a bit tired of me howling along to 'Surprise Surprise' but
I just couldn't help myself, it was such a cracking song!) What a true
pleasure it is to have her back singing in her second language on 'Sans
Attendre'. She makes it increasingly difficult to choose between
her two worlds. The stylistic differences are immediately apparent but
I am more than happy to make room for both in my small universe.

There are sixteen numbers in the new set and they are French to their
very core. There is a timeless quality to this music which transcends
genres and rolls back the years in the most delightful way. One can
easily imagine oneself sitting outside a bustling cafe in Saint-Germain-
Des-Pres on a sunny Sunday morning, sipping a cafe au lait and watching
the day unfold like a series of frozen black and white photographic moments.

The magical quality of Ms Dion's voice is unashamedly romantic; it remains
one of the most beguiling instruments in the musical firmament. The remarkable
range; the lustrous emotional power; the precision of her diction and her
inimitable ability to inhabit a melody and define the true heart of every song
remains blissfully intact. There are, as ever, treasures here aplenty.

The dramatic emotional clout of 'Qui Peut Vivre Sans Amour?

I am enjoying getting to know the songs on this album. The best by far for me is "Les Petits Pieds de Lea" which makes me cry every time I listen to it but it sounds beautiful despite its tragic lyrics. The duets are taking a bit of getting used to, but that is nothing to do with Celine and more to do with me getting used to the French male crooner!! This album isn't going to blow you away, it isn't as punchy as "S'il suffisait d'aimer" or "Deux", nor is it as earthy/organic as "Une Fille et 4 Types", but it is more celebratory in the same way that "D'Elles" is, only this time it feels like we are going back to the roots of French pop. Some very lovely songs, some very good writing and excellent vocals - what more do you want? :)

Some reviewers have said this is her finest French language album. I would say it is a very good album but doesn't hit the heights of others, e.g D'Eux. The songs are, for most part, well crafted and typically Celine. There are a few obvious album fillers in there too which do dilute down the overall quality of the CD BUT I would still recommend it as Celine's voice is as majestic as ever and some of the songs really are very good anyway.

It's a good album - don't expect too much of it and you'll be fine

After a long wait since 2007, Celine releases her new French album, and there isn't a dud track on this album. It's equally as good as her biggest selling French album'D'eux'. I think Sony made the right decision in delaying her English album until next year so they can really promote this album, even in non-French speaking countries. Celine now in her mid forties is at her vocal peak (even good singers get better with age!). And I'm starting to see what alot of others keep stating: that she does sound better in French. Although my French is not good at all, I do listen to alot of French singers these days: Lara Fabian, Roch Voisine, Garou,Patrick Fiori, Julie Zenatti, they are so much better than most English artists!.

This is a great album from the opening 1st single 'Parler A Mon Pere' right to 'Ne Me Quitte Pas'(deluxe edition. I'm sure I will be listening to this album for a long time to come. Highly recommended!

Being a huge Celine fan, she can do no wrong.
I have a basic understanding of French, which helps
But you do not need to understand the songs.
Just enjoy the music.
