4.0 out of 5 stars Attached 19 Oct 2011

A very useful book, especially for young unattached people. The style is a little irritating, (my male partner was really turned off by it but is now pleased he persevered) but the content excellent. Relationships and their problems are succinctly catagorised so that the path to lasting love becomes easier to follow. For those already in long relationships there is useful material at the end of the book, but I felt that this could have been further developed with more examples of mature mixed couples from the three main groups (anxious, secure, and avoidant) and possible solutions to typical problems. However, I have certainly gained insight into why certain reactions and emotions recur with my partners.

Finding right person to be with can be difficult and we all have our share of heart breaks. The book opens evolutionary perspective to the matter and explains why feelings are so strong every time you choose to be with someone.

I thought this book was brilliant. Quite a simple principle really, but absolutely spot on and will open your eyes to see all your past and present relationships in a different light. I'd really recommend it.

After 22 years of relationship with my husband and 4 years since our divorce I finally found out thanks to this book what was wrong with our relationship during all those years!! He is a typical avoidant and I am secure...
He took 11 years to ask me to marry him although we lived together, would walk 3 paces in front of me..did not want to hold hands, used to go out with friends without me..."needed space"...etc, etc, etc and finally even our intimate relationship suffered.....
The amazing thing is that he loved me dearly and was devastated when I decided to finish the relationship.
It was a real eye opener to see it all displayed and clearly explained in this book....I would have saved myself years and years wondering what was wrong with us!!! In fact...had I had this information back then...I believe I would not have married him at all!!
Well, at least it is there for people now to really open thier eyes to the signs...and no....you will not be the one to change him/her!! So if you don't like the way he/she behaves now....walk out!!
Excelent book!!
