Product Description

Product Description

"Atoms of Delight" is an anthology of Scottish haiku and other short poetic forms, including epigrams, proverbs, couplets, "spaces," one-line poems and one-word poems. The poets include established names such as Alan Spence, Kathleen Jamie, Edwin Morgan, Kevin MacNeil, Ian Hamilton Finlay, Sheena Blackhall, Bruce Leeming and Iain Crichton Smith. "Atoms of Delight" brings together all of the short poetic forms, used by Scottish writers: Japanese haiku and the Latin epigram, the indigenous proverb and epitaph, and contemporary European innovations such as the one-word poem.

Delight 3 Oct 2003
Format:Paperback
This would be the hardest to get hold of of the whole beautiful pocketbooks series, wouldn't it? It really is a delightful collection of little poems from a wide range of poets, mostly alive and Scottish based (naming no names, hem hem) and some dead (Walter Scott the haiku writer, who'd have thought it?).

This is the poetry book I want to give as a present to people who claim they don't do poetry. And one that I keep going back to for gentle gems of inspiration.
