Grace, commander of a newly established rebel outpost and training ground, is also a descendant of the Fae Goddess Diana - Huntress and Goddess of the moon. She and Alexios - a Warrior of Poseidon and Atlantis - have been tasked with creating an alliance between humans and Atlanteans as well as training the new generation of recruits to the rebel cause. However, it is fast becoming obvious that their feelings for one another are more than simply diplomatic relations.

Alexios was broken by his time as a captive of Anubisa, Vampire Goddess of Chaos and he finds these new feelings difficult to deal with, worried that the underlying darkness will rise to the forefront of his mind and injure Grace. Asked by his Prince to retrieve one of the seven jewels of Atlantis, Vampires Bane, which is believed to be near the new rebel outpost as well as establish diplomatic relations with the commander there.

This is a wodnerful return to form for Day after the disappointing weakness of the previous book, Atlantis Unleashed. While at times Day's use of language can be glaringly flowery and the overarching plot to retrieve the jewels of Atlantis is overlooked in favour of a plot around the new rebel outpost and the protagonists, the story felt a lot more real and polished than Atlantis Unleashed. The romance is believable and hot between two equal warriors and, it's nice to see Day introducing new elements to the ongoing plot which may hint at a spin off series in the future.

Catching up with old characters is nice, but it was really good to see her completely focus on Alexios' and Grace's developing relationship as well as moving the overall story along considerably, with a new plot twist that Atlantis must deal with.

In this fourth full length novel available in the "Warriors of Poseidon" series (2 shorter stories are also available in anthologies "Wild Thing and "Shifter") AD continues with her intriguing, action packed fantasy romance featuring the warriors of Atlantis who battle the growing threat of vampires and shape shifters in the mortal realm whilst seeking seven gems required to successfully raise Atlantis to the surface.

Following his torture at the hands of the Vampire Goddess, Alexios believes himself tainted and has sworn an oath of celibacy, an oath very much threatened when he encounters human resistance fighter Grace. Grace in turn is something more than just human; a direct descendant of Diana, Goddess of the Hunt, and a warrior who never misses when she wields her bow.

The overly protective Alexios has his hands full with the feisty Grace, a woman more than capable of defending herself against a variety of paranormal creatures, yet this alpha male soon learns that the woman he has fallen in love with will not put up with a man shielding her from danger. They stand side by side during a multitude of battle scenes, be it against vicious shape shifters, deadly vampires, or even their crazy Goddess, whilst finding brief moments of relative calm to explore their growing feelings for each other.

AD re-introduces a huge host of previously encountered characters (both Atlantean warriors and their human partners), the Fae make an appearance for the first time (although no one can trust what they say despite a Fae's inability to lie) and further battle lines are drawn between the good and bad guys.
