Product Description

After a joint US and British Naval exercise in the North Atlantic the Nuclear Submarine the USS Boise is returning to the mainland US for a refit when it is caught in a catastrophe as the Lost City of Atlantis returns from several millennia of exile from the rest of the world.

With a handful of survivors stranded on the island a rescue is launched by HMS Daring, en route to the Falklands. The rescue team is also trapped and become prisoners of Atlantis. Unbeknownst to the modern world, Atlantis is in the midst of a power struggle for domination of the nation and the rest of the world.

As the world watches ineffectually, the factions within Atlantis battle against each other, with an army of outcast monsters waiting to destroy the winners. The only hope for the world to avoid falling back into a medieval state is for the few survivors from the ships to ally themselves with one of the factions and petition the Gods of Atlantis to save the Twenty First Century.

4.0 out of 5 stars How good is this!!! 3 Dec 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
A diffent slant on the Atlantis legend with a well thought out plot and plausable reasons for why things happen made this book a very good read. I enjoyed the characters very much and would recommend this book to anyone who likes history/fantasy/battles as I'm sure you will like it. There's humour and a naturalness to the main characters that make you feel Steven has lived with them for some time. A few typos but you soon get past those as you become enthralled in the story. Hope there is a sequel as I'd love to know how the characters develop further.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome fantasy read 22 Dec 2012

Well I can honestly say that this is a thoroughly good read, I picked it up one afternoon and could not put it down. It has excellent attention to detail and interesting characters. The way in which the author strikes a balance between the technological modern world and the ancient Atlantians so that you never feel as if its a one sided fight. The detail given to the inhabitants of the island is awesome. All I can say is role on a sequel so that I can have another fix of these great characters.

2.0 out of 5 stars A Classic Example . . . 29 Dec 2011
By Seelowe
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
A classic example of a great idea poorly executed. The premise of the story and plot is actually very fine, but it is told in such an unimaginative way that it was sometimes very difficult to read. Compounding this is the number of typing errors, which significantly affects the flow of the narrative.

Words are typically repeated in the same sentence, making the prose monotonous with a juvenile quality. I found the dialogue of the characters sloppy and unbelievable. When an island rises out of the ocean, everybody ignores any possible scientific explanation such as plate tectonics shifting and instantly goes, "Oh yeah, this must be Atlantis". Some elements are poorly explained and glanced over; one which frequently irritated me was the omission of an explanation as to why there was an Australian serving in the US Rangers?

Despite these, there is enough interesting action in an original setting to get the reader through. It has lead me to read more about the legend of Atlantis generating enough curiosity, but I feel it is a great idea which has fallen into the hands of a lesser writer.
