Product Description

By NY Times Bestselling Author Bob Mayer (author of the bestselling Area 51 series)

#1 Kindle Science Fiction Bestseller

“Spell-binding! Will keep you on the edge of your seat. Call it techno-thriller, call it science fiction, call it just terrific story-telling.” Terry Brooks, #1 NY Times Bestselling author of the Shannara series and Star Wars Phantom Menace

What if the Shadow that destroyed Atlantis 10,000 years ago, comes back to threaten our present world?

A war beyond time. An enemy beyond space. A thriller beyond your wildest dreams. Three areas on the Earth’s surface defy explanation: the Bermuda Triangle, the Devil’s Sea of Japan, and a small region of Cambodia. Inside these realms, planes have disappeared, ships have vanished, and, in Cambodia, an entire civilization has been lost leaving behind Angkor Wat.

In 1628 BC, a volcano erupts, one that would become legend as the eruption that destroyed Minoan Civilization. But a small group of priestesses stand fast against the dark Shadow that precipitated the destruction.

In 79 AD the oracle of Delphi must join forces with the most fearsome gladiator from the arena of Pompeii to fight the Shadow which destroys Vesuvius. And the XV Legion is sent on a quest that causes it to disappear from the Roman Empire and into the fog of history.

In 1937, Amelia Earhart is on the most dangerous leg of her round the world flight, near the Devil’s Sea. A dark Shadow rises in front of her and swallows her and her plane, never to be seen again. Until the present, when Eric Dane leads his team against the Shadow threatening our present world and unites with her.

In 1986, the Shadow appears inside of Chernobyl, sucking power from the reactors and causing disaster.

And in the present, the Ring of Fire around the planet ignites, threatening the planet. Former Green Beret Eric Dane and the mysterious Sin Fen, a woman with powers he can’t quite understand, must track the mystical crystal skulls that have baffled scientists, to use them as a weapon against the Shadow, and unite with the gladiator and oracle to make a last stand for mankind.

If you enjoyed LOST, you’ll love this book and be amazed at the similarities in concept (although this book was published before Lost).

About the Author

NY Times bestselling author Bob Mayer has had over 50 books published. He has sold over four million books, and is in demand as a team-building, life-changing, and leadership speaker and consultant. He is also the Co-Creator of Cool Gus Publishing. His books have hit the NY Times, Publishers Weekly, Wall Street Journal and numerous other bestseller lists. Bob Mayer grew up in the Bronx. After high school, he entered West Point where he learned about the history of our military and our country. During his four years at the Academy and later in the Infantry, Mayer questioned the idea of “mission over men.” When he volunteered and passed selection for the Special Forces as a Green Beret, he felt more at ease where the men were more important than the mission. Mayer’s obsession with mythology and his vast knowledge of the military and Special Forces, mixed with his strong desire to learn from history, is the foundation for his science fiction series Atlantis, Area 51 and Psychic Warrior. Mayer is a master at blending elements of truth into all of his thrillers, leaving the reader questioning what is real and what isn’t. He took this same passion and created thrillers based in fact and riddled with possibilities. His unique background in the Special Forces gives the reader a sense of authenticity and creates a reality that makes the reader wonder where fact ends and fiction begins. In his historical fiction novels, Mayer blends actual events with fictional characters. He doesn’t change history, but instead changes how history came into being. Mayer’s military background, coupled with his deep desire to understand the past and how it affects our future, gives his writing a rich flavor not to be missed. Bob has presented for over a thousand organizations both in the United States and internationally. He has taught organizations ranging from Maui Writers, to Whidbey Island Writers, to San Diego State University, to the University of Georgia, to the Romance Writers of America National Convention, to Boston SWAT, the CIA, Fortune-500, the Royal Danish Navy Frogman Corps, Microsoft, Rotary, IT Teams in Silicon Valley and many others. He has also served as a Visiting Writer for NILA MFA program in Creative Writing. He has done interviews for the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, SportsIllustrated, PBS, NPR, the Discovery Channel, the SyFy channel and local cable shows. For more information see www.bobmayer.org.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Saga Continues... still a good read 21 April 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Number 3 in the Atlantis series keeps up the pace with regard to story telling, destruction, death and new links to various mystical items in our history/globe.

As I am reading these books one after another, and they are an easy and quick read, the whole story comes together quite well. The characters, those that live through the books(!), are developed further and those that are in for the duration of the book only are developed sufficiently for the read.

The author continues to link up the past and the present, with some 'real people' from our near past - all adds to the fun.

These books are as easy to read as the Area 51 series, although I found the Area 51 books far less believable within their story worlds.

Anyway, if you want easy SF reading then this fits the bill!
