5.0 out of 5 stars long journey? 5 July 2011
By jack
Format:Audio CD
This C.D set is ideal for any long journey, interesting, but not complex. Its suprisingly wide rangeing, something for everybody, well, almost everybody. I was glad to see that each topic is covered individually, so the first couple of CDs arent taken up with prehistory that nobody is interested in, well almost nobody. Each CD can be listened to as a seperate entity, and thats the collections main attraction for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Monumental 6 May 2013
By Graybeard - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
This is a monumental work on the Atlantic Ocean, covering its geography; the geological forces that produced and continue to shape it; its currents; the rivers, glaciers and icebergs that feed it; its biota; its chemistry; its direct and indirect impacts on peoples, places, ideas, activities, and events; and man's changing relationship with it. Winchester weaves science, history, and personal experiences into an intellectually and artistically satisfying whole. The book educates, enlightens, fascinates, delights, awes, and gives pause. Highly recommended.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great audio book! 28 Aug 2012
By Nancy G. Swanner - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I absolutely loved this - originally found this at my library and had to have a copy of my own. Not only about the history of the big quake but of the entire world and how everything led up to that fateful day in San Francisco. Just loved it!
