I am a XC mountain bike racer who is just starting to get serious in the sport, and I have never been sponsored before. It helped me a great deal to understand how sponsorship usually works, and the typical deals I could get with my limited experience, as well as what to expect from a sponsorship perspective as I improved in the sport. This book is aimed at both first time sponsorship seekers and seasoned expert athletes who may not have a manager or agent to help them with seeking sponsorship. I liked it because the book includes guidelines on how to go about approaching comanies, which companies to approach, do's and dont's of engagement and negotiating, your duty as a sponsored athlete and also examples of contracts etc. It also sugests some useful ideas for sponsorship alternatives.

Although not relevant to me at this time, this book also contains sections on Team sponsorship and sponsorship for events, which may come in handy to me in the future.
