I use this KVM switch to control two computers using one USB mouse, a USB keyboard and a DVI monitor. The switch is well-built, robust and easily installed. It comes complete with its own USB and audio cables. In addition to KVM, it also switches audio and USB if required. A remote button pad allows the switch to be hidden away discretely to a place where the cables and computers are most conveniently located.
Switching is accomplished in one of three ways; using the neat remote switch, keyboard shortcuts, or, if not using the USB hub facility, by double-clicking the mouse scroll wheel. It is possible to switch just the keyboard and mouse leaving the sound coming from one computer or the other. It is also possible KVM/Audio and USB all at the same time, or, independantly switch audio without the keyboard. In my case it means I can listen to the radio coming from one machine whilst using the keyboard, mouse and monitor on the other. The device also provides a switchable USB hub facility allowing you to share USB devices between the machines. However, the USB hub facility shares the USB mouse socket so you can't use a USB mouse and the USB hub at the same time unless the mouse is connected via the keyboard and the switch is set to disable mouse emulation on the USB mouse port. Using the USB hub facility also disables mouse scroll-wheel switching, although this is a minor inconvenience.
I have encountered no disruption to usage of the machines or their displays during switching. The manual and user guide are concise but could explain the switching options more clearly but I would not let that detract from what is otherwise an excellent product.
