4.0 out of 5 stars Sonic's back on GBA 24 Mar 2003
Sonic is back for a second round on the game boy advance improving on the original in some very interesting ways. The first improvement is the speed of the game, as you run through the levels at a steady pace you will suddenly gain a burst of speed and run full pelt until you reach an obstacle or slow down(This burst will look like breaking the sound barrier and happens quicker depending on the amount of rings you collect).
The graphics are slightly improved still with the same character sprites seen in the original but with more fluid animations. The environments are much more colourful and catch your eye more with moving backgrounds and little touches which sonic team are famous for.
Gameplay is one of the more noticable improvements with the ability to home in on enemies with a double jump (ala Sonic Adventure series) and the ability to perfrom tricks when ever you are ending a grind/spring etc, allowing you to reach higher places, do tactical manouvers or attack in mid flight.
Plus boss battles are different to the original since you have to constantly run after them to attack.
Sound and music are basically the same as every sonic game, but the music still doesn't compare to the likes of sonic 2.
If your a Sonic fan, this game is a must and will probably be your greatest challenge yet, but i do recommend this game to any platform lovers out there who want a very long lasting fun game.

5.0 out of 5 stars absolutly amazing! 14 April 2003
where should i start! four unlockable charactors (including amy - bet you didnt know that!)7 collectable emralds for each charactor! new moves using the R button, which can acctually be helpful
to get to the special stages you have to collect 7 special rings on one level (act) and finish the level. the acctual special stage is a lot easier than on sonic advance 1 (what a relief!)
the charactors you can play as are sonic (which you have at first) then cream (who a new charactor,is unlocked on zone 1) Tails (unlocked on zone 3) knuckles (zone 5) then amy, who is unlocked when u completly compleate the game.
I definatly recomend this game because... its the best basicly!

4.0 out of 5 stars Sonic returns and does it in style! 1 Aug 2004
Here I am reviewing yet another Sonic game and I must say that he nevers fails to disappoint me.
Sonic Advance 2 fars surpasses its first outing with graphics, moves and new characters. One good thing I noticed was that you only had Sonic at the beginning and you had to unlock the other four, Cream the rabbit and her Chao Cheese, Tails the two tailed fox, Knuckles the echidna and finally Amy Rose the pink hedgehog.
This offered challenge as you had to fight Eggman in order to play as your friends.
The game offers much more tactical moves in order to help you reach higher places or to find secret items or simply to survive. Such as when you are flying through the air and you want to get to a far off platform, you can press both the direction you are heading and the R button and you will gain a small bit of speed to help get there.
The acts and zones are much longer than Sonic Advance which gives you more room to explore and makes it more challenging to find the seven special rings which take you to the special stages in order to find the seven Choas Emeralds.
The boss fights with Eggman have been completely changed. Now you are constantly running and Eggman has a huge machine and has many traps to attack you. Rings appear as you run so use them wisely. He is no push over as some of the bosses have very weel been thought of and it also depends on which character you are using. In my opinion Cream is the best character ti use.
Now with the characters. As usual Sonic is the fastest character, good jumper and has aerobatic moves. Sonic can be used to clear the acts of the zones quickly and to get rid of enemies that can be annoying.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, yet too challenging 19 April 2004
The good thing about this game is when you get past a boss you start breakdancing! You start the game with Sonic,(you ulock the others),you first ulock Cream, then Tails ad last Knuckles, but there is a bonus character to unlock at the end,Amy Rose. The gameplay is great, but the bad thing is when you get stuck, you end up pulling your hair out in frustration! This game is really good, except a bit too hard.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sonics back! 28 April 2003
all i will say is this,
if you loved all the sonic games on the MegaDrive then you realy should get this!
the GameBoy Advance is still amazing me in what it can do on-screen,
fast, first class entertainment ;-)
i've not found a better 'platform' game for the GBA yet; and makes a wellcome change to all the complexed 3D games on the 'big' systems. 'pure' gameing at its best!
