Product Description

Y Cyrff (The Bodies) was formed at Ysgol Dyffryn Conwy, Llanrwst, in 1983. An early line-up included Emyr Davies on vocals, Dylan Hughes on drums, Mark Roberts on guitar and Barry Cawley on bass. Early on, Mark, Dylan and Barry confessed their love of The Clash and the songs they composed, even when sung in Welsh, had a distinctive "Clash" sound. "Wales, England and LLanrwst and Y Cyrff! The thing about Y Cyrff is that they respresent especially the Conwy Valley and Llanrwst, a kind of pride and independence which is typical of the place and the people. Y Cyrff also represented '80s Wales - the series of gigs "Llanrwst yn Llosgi" (Llanrwst's Burning) and all the new groups played there. Music is best for conveying the sense of time and feeling of place. Hearing Y Cyrff playing in front of their people, was hearing the best - in any language. Performances uncompromising and thrilling - Sunday night at Eisteddfod Llanrwst or Saturday Night at Cwm Rhymni - the songs stand with the best that live rock ever produced. They gave of themselves on stage - and they had something to say." - Toni Schiavone
