This is the author's second book, and although it takes a completely different direction from 'Beneath Gray Skies', it's a thriller which sets an amazing pace, with twists and turns in every chapter.
After a seemingly innocent encounter with a businessman, Ken Sharpe's life turns into a nightmare of ever increasing complexity. The reader is left wondering who can be trusted, and who cannot. The sense of menace is ever present, right through to the final pages.
As well as being an extremely accomplished thriller, with a complex plot, this book offers a fascinating insight into everyday life and culture in Japan, which I found very interesting.
I await Hugh Ashton's next book with bated breath!
