5.0 out of 5 stars Great solo live show 18 Oct 2010
This is a live CD from summer 2010 of Neil Hannon's tour that year where he played solo, accompanying himself mostly on piano with some guitar. Although his band arrangements are fab, without them you really get to appreciate the cleverness of the words. His piano playing is pretty basic but his singing is superb. He sings many songs from the Bang goes the Knighthood release plus some classics and a couple of rarities. The intimacy and excitment of a live show comes across in his banter with the crowd. If you're new to Div Com, you might be better off buying the Best of and the Knighthood CDs. If you're a fan, you'll enjoy hearing a different take on his songs.

5.0 out of 5 stars We're off to the depths of Somerset (House)... 5 Feb 2011
I was lucky enough to be there on that lovely summer evening in 2010, and it's great to have this 3CD set as a memento. While The Divine Comedy without an orchestra might be an odd concept, when you hear this it's clear that Neil Hannon's music and lyrics speak for themselves. As the previous reviewer says, it really allows the words, and Hannon's soaring vocals, to shine. Yeah he makes a few mistakes, but that just adds to the fun and the crowd lapped up his ad-libbing and banter. The atmosphere on the night was charming, and that largely comes across on the CD as well. For the price Amazon is charging, this is a bit of a bargain (it was £20 for those of us who bought it on the night!) and is a terrific record of Hannon's peerless songwriting.

A very initimate album where you feel part of the concert. Humorous comments and great songs make up for Neil not always being in perfect key.
