I have to say I wish I was at this show. BUT at least I have the live recording of it as it happened, AND with the spoken introductions to the songs that all the other live albums have edited out. I LOVE hearing Rod, Russ and Jim speaking about the songs that they are about to play, and these are played very well.
Understood that the sound is somewhat substandard, this album catches a STELLAR performance. Another complaint notices that the song list has them out of sequence. While that is true as well as that some songs arent even listed at all, at least the songs are still there, and to me this counts for alot.
I looked at the fact that the sound recording made on the spot and pressed and sent off right after, well I didn't have high hopes for much in the way of production.
You can hear the faint echo of other bands on other stages, which is unavoidable and for me, it adds to the 'moment' in wich this album is presented. From what I understand, other bands werent nearly as good as Argent either in their performance at this festival or in the subsequent recording.
Love "I Don't Believe In Miracles" on this, just Russ on his keyboards, and they all played well, the mix of songs was well rounded, it is a very nice keepsake.
If you couldn't be there OR if you were and wanted a sound keepsake, this works well for that.
