Manufacturer's Description

Splendid takes PC graphics capabilities to the next level by enhancing depth and color intensity in real time. The advanced Area Pixel Processing Algorithm carefully evaluates each pixel in every frame and adjusts them based on smaller regions without affecting the whole picture. Colors in each region are dynamically optimized according to conditions most favorable to the human eye. This helps Splendid become especially effective for human skin tones, green stretches of grass and trees; and blue skies and seas.

Traditionally, a GPU Pixel Shader is a graphics function that calculates effects on a per-pixel basis. With ASUS' New Splendid Video Intelligence Technology however, the GPU Pixel Shader will be used to reduce CPU loading for the first time in the world. The New Splendid can amazingly reduce over 30% in CPU loading in comparison to the original version. Therefore, Full HD images enabled by ASUS’ graphics cards can be fine-tuned to deliver vibrant visual representations in conditions most favorable to the human eye. With the New Splendid, watching movies on the PC is as good as watching them on top-of-the-line HDTVs.

ASUS SmartDoctor is a group of special tools to help users make the most of their ASUS graphics cards. It monitors the Fan RPM, AGP Power Level, GPU and RAM temperature, and has a slide bar for easy manual overclocking. Furthermore, the embedded HyperDrive and SmartCooling technology can dynamically overclock and change the fan speed for better performance and convenience. With its comprehensive hardware monitoring functions it provides you with the best graphics card investment protection and best performance when overclocking.

The original SmartDoctor allows you to manually adjust both core and memory clocks to boost your graphics card performance. Now ASUS features the new HyperDrive technology that allows you to easily and dynamically change the speed of the GPU and memory to gain more power from your graphics card.

This is a very good graphics card for you to have your system. This will allow you to play all the games currently out including battlefield 3, medium+ settings and for a good price. The is a scale of 'price to performance' and this is right in the middle of it. It is exceptional value and only a little less performance than some of the cards that are £300+. Also if you do have the option, buying two of these cards and putting them in SLI mode is a very solid solution to boost your frame rate for lower costs than just buying another, more expensive single card. The card will never overheat even at full load playing a game - my system fans will make a higher noise than this. Very good buy and would recommend to anyone who wants good performance without breaking their wallet.

I purchased this card from another retailer, for £130. I would happily buy it at the Amazon price if it had been offered at the time. This card is about 70% stronger than the 550ti and about 85% as strong as a 560ti (according to nVidia). This means that the choice of which card to buy for around £100-£200 isnt that easy. Well I planned to buy a 560ti at £170, but then I saw the deal for £130. I feel I made the right decision. This game runs Alice MR at a constant 60fps (Once the 30fps cap on the game has been tweaked) with everything on max, only dipping to 30fps when alot of on screen PHYSX is going on. It looks fantastic. I run dirt 2 at 80fps ultra, and NFS the run on ultra as well at 50fps. Kingdoms of Amalur runs on max with an average of 55fps. I am very happy with the card and would recommend its value over the ti AT £130. The ti is worth about £20 more than this as it gets a few extra fps. Take note of the prices when buying, as it is not a case of this is the best value card, its only when the price difference is over £30. Love it very much!
