5.0 out of 5 stars Great product! 27 Jun 2013

So here goes doing my first review for a techy piece of kit!! I am so pleased, i've looked for ages to find a tablet that doesn't break the bank but does everything that I want , i've had the memo for a week so here is my thoughts so far!!1. Surf the web quickly √ 2. Plays music with a good volume and clearly√ 3. Put my photos on and has front/rear camera √- i feel the quality is vey reasonable! 4. Light weight √ 5. Looks good √ 6. Battery lasts-about 6 hours connected to wifi √. I paid 209.00 as Tesco was doing a deal which I think is a terrific price! This may not be the most technical review but I hope it helps!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good value for money 9 July 2013
Verified Purchase
The tablet fulfiled all my expectation. Is not one of the top tablet on the market, but have a good performance. Best value for money. The screens move smoothly, the wifi reception is excelent, gps also, the graphic is very good, also the games works perfectly. The only week point are the batteries, which duration depends very much on the way of usage. In case of playing games the bateries duration is around 3 hours; otherwise around 6 effective hours.
I stronly recommend to those who need a good tablet for a reasonable price.

5.0 out of 5 stars samsung tab 2 vs asus memo pad 23 April 2013
By J. Khan
Tab 2 vs memo pad

I had the memo pad for a week before the wifi crashed and stopped responding....I exchanged it for another and it wouldnt pick up the wifi at all.....im going to put that down to my router and my room being a cold spot and presume your wifi will work.....I then exchanged it for a tab 2 which I have had for a week, so with that out the way I will continue to explain why the memo pad is far far superior to the tab 2 and the pros and cons of both....

When researching the two pads.....a glaring different is the asus quad core processor vs the tab 2 dual core....

Some reviews were stating that despite the asus being quad core that processor was now outdated.....well that outdated processor still beats the tab 2s dual core proccessor by a mile.....downloading a song on the memo pad takes around 10-20seconds vs up to a minute on the tab 2.....opening lots of apps and web pages on the memo pad is no issue vs the tab 2 it will slow down and become sluggish.....the asus processor is very impressive in general and it never makes you feel like your using a budget tablet....whereas with the tab 2 you feel you are getting what you paid for

Next is the asus speakers.....this is such a landslide its ridiculous....after enjoying the crystal clear sound and great depth and seeming base the asus speakers provide I was so shocked at the poor annoying sharp low quality 1 dimensional sound of the tab 2s speakers.....its unusable for music.....the audio wizard on the asus pad is also great it seems like a limited tool but each option offers dramatic changes in the sound that really alter your audio experiences if your watching movies or listening to music.....

Next up.....is the interface......the asus is basic and to the point.....

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb tablet! 11 May 2013

I recently bought one of these and am loving it!

- Build quality is excellent. Light and slimline. The Asus brand means you'll get a well made bit of kit. I've always used their motherboards for building PCs.
- The IPS display is clear, bright and gives good viewing angles. The size and resolution is perfect, especially if you like watching movies and playing games on the go.
- Good battery life, used it for just over eight hours before it needed charging again.
- Quad-core processor is nippy and has not struggled at all with anything I've thrown at it so far.
- Stereo speakers - Despite being rear-facing they are powerful and clear, surprisingly even when placed on a flat surface. Asus also provide a neat wizard app to help you tweak the audio settings.
- Two cameras - I know this is standard these days, but for a tablet in this price range I think it's excellent. However if you're an avid photographer then I wouldn't expect a great deal. Good for point-and-click and skyping.
- MicroSD slot can take up to 64GB SDXC cards in both FAT and NTFS formats... I'm going to Turkey on holiday soon and will use this to take some movies and music for the flights there and back.
- Micro HDMI port v1.4a - With the addition of a HDMI cable you can instantly turn a standard TV with a HDMI port into a SmartTV. I can see this being useful for holidays and trips as well, especially if you're in a hotel with WiFi access.
- Micro USB port for charging and direct connection to a PC. No need to fork out extra for non-standard cables. Micro USB is a widely used connection type by many manufacturers. I have loads of these cables already for other devices including my mobile. You can even get them from the pound shops these days!

bought this as a replacement for the tablet I bought while in Malta. In comparison it is a different class. It does everything it is supposed to do and I can't fault it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Why fork out all that hard money for Apple? 25 April 2013
By V. Kint
I didn't intend to buy this tablet. Initially I was out to get a Samsung Galaxy tab 2.

I knew I could not afford an Ipad (nor did I particularly want one - I have an iPhone 4s and with the recent changes in chargers etc I did not want to be held to ransom by Apple).

I went into the shop and saw this in the corner and compared the two. Admittedly the Samsung is possibly the greatest rival to the tablet crown, but I was aware that the Tab 2.0 has been out for a while.

So i plumped for the tablet with Jellybean OS. Quad core chip set which allows me to more smoothly.

I'm not overly fussed about a camera on a tablet, although it is nice to have the option and it does just fine. Its not worse than a decent iphone camera.

The feel is solid and not flimsy.
The sound quality is excellent and allows you to customise it with the excellent audio wizard tool.

Memopad also comes with a decent array of free apps which are pre-loaded such as ones which allow you to combine your social media feeds into one. Another gives you 5Gb worth of free cloud storage. Always worth it when you're on the move.

The touch screen is smooth and responsive and can be adapted to suit.

there are three battery levels to conserve power as well as the more powerful 'Performance' mode which activates all the bells and whistles.

App support is good, although it could be better, but then it is a new product having only been out for a couple of months and companies such as BBC and Sky being slow to support android in general.

At £250 it is worth the money and you'd wonder why the others cost so much when they offer little other than a name.
