I received this today from Amazon in a box along with a few other items. It was well packaged and securely fitted inside with adequate packaging. The card itself came with an SLI bridge if you have a second GTX 580, a DVI to VGA adapter, but if you're using a VGA monitor with this card then you seriously need to think about investing in a new monitor, finally with a dual 6 pin to 8pin connector for power supply, but once again, if you have to use this, then you probably need to consider upgrading your power supply (I'd suggest about 700w min, depending on rest of system). I personally have a 850w and it works brilliantly.
The card itself is a triple expansion slot card, thanks to the colossal cooling on it. The card offers 2 full DVI slots, an HDMI port and a full Display Port. It connects through a PCIe x16 port to the motherboard but also requires 2x 8pin power connectors. The card also features 2 SLI forks for potentially quad SLI, but I don't know of many cases that have 12 expansion slots!
Performance wise, this card even though it's about a year old (Released February/march 2011) still manages to blow most other cards out the water. I have tested it against other cards such as it's predecessor the GTX 480 (reference card) and it's main competitor the AMD 6970 (also reference card). In 3DMark11 (1920x1080, NoAA, 0xAF) the GTX 480 managed 21284, the AMD 6970 averaged 22830 but the winner was the Asus GTX 580 DCUII with 23486. In games such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Battlefield 3, Metro 2033 and Crysis 2, the Asus GTX 580 DCUII managed more than playable frame rates throughout most settings (although note at 2560x1600 frame rates did suffer a little in Metro 2033 and Crysis 2).
One thing I need to mention is how well this card Overclocks. Using ASUS GPU Tweak, I was able to up the core clock from 782MHz to 952MHz, Core Voltage from 1038mV to 1160mV, Memory clock from 4008MHz to 4158MHz. Under these conditions the card remains very stable and maintains a good temperature never exceeding 80c. (One thing to note is that these settings may not work for you, you may be able to push your card further, or not as much).
Overall I give this card 5* as it delivers consistent performance at very playable frame rates whilst maintaining relatively cool. One thing to note is that the fans are very quiet, however if the card is put under a load (FurMark) then if the fans reach above 45% then they can be a little noisy, however in game this hasn't occurred to date. I also give 5* to amazon for impeccable service as per usual.
