I was looking for a laptop for general use and some heavy use like gaming and video editing. After hunting around for something in this price range I couldn't believe it when I found this one with 6GB RAM and NVIDIA graphics! For the money you're paying you're getting an exceptionally powerful and well built machine. It also sports Asus's unique cooling system and which is great, you're hands never get hot even when doing some really heavy work - I was playing Half Life 2 and put my tea next to the heat vent to keep it warm, but the surface where your hands sit never goes above room temperature. I've also played Blazing Angels and Portal - all work perfectly, very smooth graphics and gameplay. I'm curious to see what else I can play. Video editing has been a doddle too - I have Adobe Premier Elements. Internet wise, I use IE 9 just because, running native on this machine, it's extremely fast browsing (eg Bing maps refreshes in 0.3 seconds). OH yeah the sound from the Altec Lansing speakers is also very, very good. My only quibble with this machine is the badly thought out position of the SD card slot - its under the lip of the keyboard making it a bit fiddly to get your SD card out, but I don't find it a huge problem. You can always buy a separate card reader. ASUS even had the good grace to package it in 100% recycled materials and print the text in vegetable ink! Buy this laptop, it's amazing!
