Stephen Duffy recorded most, if not all of this CD in his room. This is one of those CDs that you find yourself listening to over and over and over -- and the melodies and lyrics stay stuck in your brain for days and days. Although this CD is nearly a decade old...it's a keeper. If you are into amazing singer/songwriter stuff...you must hear these songs...as they will hold up over time. Apollo 8 in '68...or whenever...obviously made a huge impression on childhood Stephen as The Lilac Time's new CD ("Looking For a Day in the Night" on Cooking Vinyl -- out in the UK, and this summer, here in America) makes another reference to the memory. Stephen's the type of musician who would rather write and put out what he wants than go for the money-makin' hits and flashy PR scene. His music is intensely personal, and poetic enough to somehow relate to listeners...or at least engage us. I would have to say that the song "Madresfield" is one of my favorites....ever. TLT have many influences....the band name coming from a Nick Drake song. If you like Belle, Elliott, Aimee Mann....Nick....you will enjoy and appreciate Stephen and company as well.
