Product Description

Freeze-Dried, Ready-to-Eat, Strawberries Enjoy your Strawberries just as the Astronauts do - the freeze-dried way! Astronaut StrawberriesÃ'®, as well as other freeze-dried food items, have been aboard space missions since the early Mercury Missions. They continue to be used on NASA missions today. How does it Look and Taste? Freeze-drying is like suspended animation because it keeps the strawberries totally intact, but without the water. As you eat the fruits, your mouth rehydrates the strawberries, restoring it to its original state. Freeze-dried strawberries can be stored for many years without refrigeration as long as you keep them in an airtight, sealed container. Net Weight 14g, Made in the USA Ingredients: Strawberries - Produced in a facility that also processes peanuts, milk, soy, wheat, gluten, egg and tree nut ingredients. All our Astronaut Foods have the Certified Space Technology insigna on the packaging to indicate that they are the same range as used in space by NASA Astronauts. The brand Astronaut Foods was created in 1975 in conjunction with the National Air and Space Museum in the USA to provide authentic foods that had been in space to their museums customers.

The only real reason to have this is the freeze-dried/ spaceman aspect.
They taste a bit better than the ice-cream but it's still taking a really nice flavour, diluting it and then creating a horrible texture to put it in.
If you're looking for space food then I've seen these in Hawkins Bazaar cheaper (and without postage). However, if it's simply to satisfy a need to know what freeze-dried Strawberries taste like then, take it from me, it's not worth it. They're not disgusting but far from nice.

Yuck!! 9 Feb 2011
Bought this as stocking filler for my kids, both of whom threw it away after one mouthful claiming it to taste like sweet cardboard. My son is twelve and quite honestly would probably have a good go at a bit of cardboard if I dowsed it in sugar so this tells me that the Freeze dried Strawberry 'Astro' food must be abysmal!

What a waste of money.

Space food 6 Mar 2010
Thought this was great. I got them for my son to show him space food but I did think that they were a bit sour.
