This book is excellent for anyone just beginning to be interested in predictive and spiritual Vedic astrology. Dr David Frawley writes in a style that is easy to understand, remembering that this is a system of eastern astrology that is very different to western astrology (although the reader does not require any previous knowledge of either to appreciate the book).
As well as giving methods of balancing planetary influences, such as mantra and use of gems, he also gives 18 example charts to demonstrate how precise and accurate this profound system is.
At the back of the book is information about studying Vedic astrology by correspondence course and joining British or American organisations.
Details are included about having postal or telephone readings. My own telephone reading prior to reading the book impressed me enough to want to know more about this fascinating subject.

The best introduction to jyotish ever. 21 Aug. 2003
By A Customer - Published on
Format: Paperback
When I signed up for Brendan Feeleys' introductory
course in jyotish (vedic astrolgy), this was the textbook.
Need I say more?
OK, for the person new to vedic astrology, this
is probably the best first step.
It covers all the basics; the philosophy behind it,
the planetary significators, signs, houses, aspects, lordships, planetary periods (dashas), harmonic charts, introductions to medical astrology & remedial astrology, and a bevy of sample charts.
Deep concise and fun! Worth every penny.

Gam Ganapataye Namo Namah! 10 May 2001
By H. Smedbol - Published on
Format: Paperback
Astrology of the Seers is an excellent introduction to Jyotish, as it is very clearly written, with elegance, and a poetic touch. As usual Vamadeva Sastri lives up to his name, and his book shows it. this is a very "spiritualised" approach to Jyotish, and was very helpful for me to get a foundation in seeing the Grahas as "spiritual beings" or Devas...Vamadeva's scholarship and grasp of the subtle is simply amazing, the mind is illumined by his fine writing, and the heart is melted in Divine Love. all i can say is thank you, thank you, thank you!! Koti Koti pranams to you David!
In the Mother's Divine Love, and in Her Service, as ever, Your own self,
visvanathan Om Amrtesvaryai Namah!

Good Intro to Philosophy but Disappointing as a "how to" book 23 Oct. 2012
By Nat Kat - Published on
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
3 stars for providing excellent introduction to the philosophical concepts of Vedic astrology BUT sorely lacking as a practical manual. After reading this book i still have no idea how to read or interpret a vedic chart!

Many books later, I can recommend Bloomflied or Levacy books if you want to learn how to interpret a chart. I am glad I read Astrology of the Seers, Frawley is a true Vedic scholar and his writing sparked my interest in the philosophical foundations of Jyotish. But be warned this is NOT a practical manual and will NOT help you interpret a chart.

One of the Best books on vedic astrology!!! 11 Jun. 2007

Five stars all the way! I initially got this book from the local library... I must have read it atleast 10 times before I knew I needed to add it to my permanent collection. This is perhaps the BEST book to have if you want to start learning the basics on vedic astrology. This book will not confuse you with technical stuff on astrology... I have read 10-12 books by now on hindu astrology and I know how tough this subject is to grasp. This book forms a good foundation on the 'whys' rather than the 'hows'. I highly recommend it.

It is an excellent book for novice in Vedic astrology. 27 July 1998

David has done an excellent job. He has explained vedic [Hindu] astrology in a very simple way. Well I really do not have many words to express the work he has done.
Well done David.......keep it up.
