I have read literally hundreds of self help and metaphysical books, and this one BEATS THEM ALL! This astonishing book wins hands down for its simplicity and its comprehensiveness. This book tells you how you can make your life everything you want it to be - by simply learning to think 'downstream' thoughts - and it shows you and tells you exactly how to do that. This isn't just another book that tells you that you must never think negative thoughts and must always think positively etc., but it does show you how you can instantly move from a problem that you thought was insolvable to a place where the solution is on its way - and you feel better. I think that no matter how bleak your life is right now, this book will help you to start to make it feel considerably better.
I think it's important to read this book from the beginning - it's not a 'dip' read. Each chapter builds on the one before, and the book has lots of real life examples including weight problems, bereavement, marital stress and relationships.
The free CD is fantastic as well, as Esther/Abraham explains in words and examples how to allow your life to be easy and everything you want it to be.
Do I sound wildly enthusiastic about this book? I hope so because I am. I think it can change lives, and even though I am a big fan of Esther and Jerry Hicks and the teachings of Abraham, I believe this book is the culmination of all the teachings they've offered over the last 20 or so years.
If you've never heard of Abraham and are a bit wary of 'channelled' material - throw caution to the winds and buy it anyway!! Be prepared to be astonished as well!
I can't recommend this book and CD strongly enough or in enough ways...

I have been through plenty of Esther Hicks / Abraham stuff: books, CDs and information on the web, but the CD that comes with this book (a recording of Esther channeling live) finally helped me "get it".

If you're fed up, angry, frustrated or depressed, just stop trying so hard to paddle up stream. Try letting go of the oars, float downsteam and watch the magic start to happen. If you're ready, it's life changing.

The message comes across loud and clear via the CD and the early chapters of the book.

Then, if you're like me and like examples to help you apply the message, the rest of the book covers almost every "sh** happens" scenario in life, with advice direct from Abraham. It really resonated with me and the "rowing boat" / "stream" metaphor works well for people who might not feel so comfortable with the esoteric nature of Abraham's / Esther Hicks' earlier books.

So if you want to send the message to your mum, this is the book to choose.

I hope it helps you let go of the oars!

The message in this book is a great message -- a really great message. But it is not a completely new message. "The Astonishing Power of Emotions" is very similar to a book I read quite a while ago called, Row, Row, Row Your Boat: A Guide for Living Life in the Divine Flow by Steven Lane Taylor. Both books are about effortlessly manifesting whatever it is you want to have, do, or be in life. Both use the paddling upstream vs. flowing downstream metaphor. And both books talk about being positive and non-resistant. The main difference is that Abraham-Hicks focuses almost exclusively on generating positive feelings to get "in the flow," while Mr. Taylor focuses on recognizing and cooperating with the actions "the flow" inspires you to take. Because of the difference in what these two books emphasize, I can't recommend one book over the other. Instead, I recommend you read both. These two books paint the most complete picture of the manifestation process that I know of. And it is a picture that is far more complete that the overly simplistic sketch presented by "The Secret."
