This is an excellent book for anyone involved in asthma care. Though it is american and some of the drugs are named differently from uk, the basics of asthma care are the same. Its an easy book to dip into, and though it has no references, having just completed an education for health asthma course, the information appears up to date. Great for a nurse just starting out in asthma care because it is written simply and makes most aspects of asthma easy to understand.

Helpful and clearly written 19 April 2010

The Asthma Educator's handbook is clearly written and a helpful reference to prepare for the NAECB exam. The one drawback is that the book was published before the release of the 2007 NAEPP EPR-3 guidelines and the chapter discussion of the guidelines is now outdated.
    Very informative 1 May 2012

I took the NAECB Asthma Educator examination in April of this year, and I read this book from cover to cover as part of my preparation. It is very well laid out (although out of date as per the latest NHLBI Asthma Guidelines), and concise. Would definitely recommend to any healthcare professional. I would like to see an updated edition though!
