Buying an Asterix comic when I was young was the highlight of the month. They were fairly expensive and I had to buy them from my pocket money, so it made them more of a treat. I can't really decide which one is my favourite, but this one definitely ranks in the top 3. Apart from the usual 'in-jokes' about Obelix and the villagers, it's an hilarious portrayal of their insular neighbours and their traits and quirks. Thirty years on, I pick it up and still love these books.

A really funny adventure of Asterix for those of us who knew Corsica 20 or more years ago.
For French speakers, the original French version is obviously better but this is a very decent English translation.

My children have grown up with Asterix et al and are huge fans, (Now 11 and 9) even choosing Parc Asterix over Disney on a trip to Paris. This is another enjoyable adventure for our brave heros, if you know Asterix then you will know this book, if you don't and have children then get them involved it still amazes me that my kids who are very much of the Xbox and nintendo generation get as much enjoyment from these comic strip stories as I did when I was their age. Very enjoyable, even for grown ups.
