Obelix falls for the beautiful Panoromix, a new visitor to the Gaulish village, only to discover her heart belongs to Tragicomix. Tragicomix, who was forced to join the Roman Army, has been taken off far away to another land to fight for Caeser's great Enpire. Obelix feels it his duty to rescue Tragicomix so Panaromix will be happy once more. The best solution Obelix can think of is to join the Roman Army, and his beloved friends Asterix and Dogmatix come too. This is one of my favorite books in the series and one of the funniest.

Being an avid 'Asterix' reader, this one is one of my favourite. There is laughter at ever corner as our friends Asterix and Obelix engage themselves in Caesar's army to rescue a captive fellow Gaul. But, instead of being ordered around, they are the ones doing the ordering, much to the dismay of their Roman troop leaders!
