5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best Asterix books 2 Jan 2002
By A Customer
Format:Hardcover
When Cleopatre rashly bets with Julius Caesar that she can build a palace in three months, the poor architect calls on his Gaulish friends for help.
This is one of the best Asterix books with a good plot, interesting location and a few entertaining side trips (one of which explains why the Sphinx has no nose).
For fans of the English versions of the Asterix books, a few of the characters have different names (e.g. the druid is called Panoramix) but you soon get used to that.
The book is made by the characteristion of Cleopatra, portrayed as a proud, short tempered beauty with an impressively pointed nose ("si son nez été plus court, il eut changé la face du monde").
Your French doesn't need to be all that good to follow the book, though you may miss a few of the jokes. Give it a go anyway.
Ils sont fous ces romains!
