5.0 out of 5 stars A really practical book, 11 Sep 2002
By Paul Stoneham (Wirksworth, Matlock, Derbyshire United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
If you find people walk all over you, or if you walk all over other people, and want to change you'll find this book to be really practical. Actually, it's not really a "book" in the sense of a "read", more of a pocket reference with bullet-point "tips" on how to be assertive with people. Nothing particularly new in the information it presents, but laid out in an easy-to-read manner. And it works!

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent easy-to-read introduction to assertiveness., 7 Jun 2001
By A Customer
I am a corporate trainer, coach and consultant and I often recommend books to my coachees to read. As usual, the Pocketbook series comes up trumps. The text is clear and easy to read. The layout is "reader-friendly", helped by fun cartoon illustrations. The book provides a simple but comprehensive introduction to Assertiveness and is a "must" as a first read in this subject, particularly for those who are short on reading time or inclination! I often follow this book up with "Assertiveness at Work" by Ken and Kate Back, if my coachee wishes/needs to explore further.

1.0 out of 5 stars Soul destroying, 27 Oct 2008
By S. C. Jerram "rankersbo" (West Yorkshire, England, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I was given this book by a well meaning person who sought to help me.

Oh dear, from the beginning I felt threatened and bullied- I put it down and could not get to sleep, I was crying so hard.

If you are already in tune with the main bully-boy clique in society it may help, but otherwise it will just make you feel worse about yourself.

Avoid.
