Unfortunately it probably was rushed. Perhaps you are familiar with Skyrim. Well it's predecessor, oblivion was released about 8 years ago (2004) whereas Ubisoft pump out a new game for Assassins creed nearly every year. Maybe it's forgivable then, maybe not.

I really enjoyed and am still enjoying, revelations after about a month of ownership and can't wait for Assassin's creed III (due this coming october). I thought that Assassin's creed revelations was particuarly short for an Assassin's creed game but that's the thing; It's not supposed to be a full game, it's an installment like Brotherhood. It needs to be appreciated for what it is. While I doubt this will change your opinion of the product I personally think the fact that Ubisoft can create even a short game this well in so little time is great (unlike their DRM).

I would have given this game a 4 star review because of it's length and other small reasons but when my mouse rolled over the star selector I could not bring myself to click 4.

I took (WARNING: TACKIE GAME REFERENCE IMINENT) a Leap of Faith :) when I purchased this game as I had not EVER played another Assassin's creed game or installment and I was very pleased with the results. Now I'm (WARNING: TACKIE GAME REFERENCE IMINENT) Hooked on Assassin's creed Revelations and write this between gameplay sessions.

Anyway, got to go Revelations calls! :)

In many ways, this is the best AC yet. However, it's also got a number of glaring misfires, and some features are inexplicably worse than they were in the last game ("Brotherhood").

New players can safely skip the original Assassin's Creed and go straight for AC II, which neatly recaps the events of AC I in its intro. Brotherhood built on the theme of AC II very well, and both can be bought very cheaply now. Revelations is a great reward to those players who've loved the series so far, but you need to have built up that love to overlook a few flaws. Revelations has been referred to as Brotherhood 2 by many people, and that's a fair point. It feels like a stepping stone from the AC II era towards whatever AC III will be.

All of that said, the graphics are beautiful and the gameplay can still give you that heart-in-your-mouth feeling. A recent addition to the series was the option to complete stages with 50% sync or 100% sync, depending on whether you achieved only the main aim or if you did everything exactly as the protagonist did it in the past (he never existed, but suspend your disbelief). I almost wish the makers made it mandatory to complete a certain number of missions at 100%, because it's certainly possible to breeze through this and wonder what the fuss is about. Challenge yourself and you'll find it a lot more gripping.

I am a big fan of the Assassin's Creed series and I hoped this game will be an improvement over the previous ones. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case.
Overall, the game is not too bad. However, there are a lot of issues; for example, the event trigger zones are too small and it happened more than once to miss them with a few centimeters (in the game's reference system, of course :)). For example, in the race minigames you must make sure you're touching the "gates" exactly on the position that was intended, otherwise you might miss them and have to get back.
When the Templars attack one of the Thieves Dens, you must play a kind of Tower Defense game, where you place barricades on the street and shooters on the rooftops; moreover, the minigame is quite boring and not very well tuned. This is NOT what I want from an Assasssin's Creed game! If I want to play Tower Defense, there are better options out there!
Other smaller issues: there is a guy called Vali cel Tradat (in fact it should be Vali cel Tr'dat...), which is a Wallachian noble (Wallachia was on Romania's territory; the name is Romanian); despite the fact that, according to the Credits, the game was partially produced and tested at Ubisoft Bucharest, it seems like they never bothered to ask someone at the Romanian studio how to pronounce the name, so the result is a Wallachian (Romanian) character whose name is spelled in an Italian style by a Turkish character :)
So, overall, the game is not bad, but not great either. It looks like it was rushed and they weren't able to fine tune it. This opinion is supported by the release of a 700+ MB patch right after the game was launched...
If you are a fan of the series, you should buy this game, too (but if you are a real fan, then you probably already bought it :)). If you want to start playing the series, DON'T buy this one, you'll be dissapointed!
