5.0 out of 5 stars Breath-takingly good. 7 Nov. 2012

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Well, Fantastic is one way to start this review. Following the slight disappointment of Revelations, this game is really keeps up with Assassin's Creed II, which, was my favourite until this came along. The Join or Die Edition is a nice box, and inside, the Medallion is metal and really well done, George Washington's notebook is fabulous, and the artwork is unmatched. The game itself is outstanding. Combat, story, graphics, characters, all fabulous. One thing I will say, having owned all previous Assassin's Creed games, Connor Destroys Altair, but, I feel like Ezio is generally the better protagonist, and that they shouldn't have killed him off too soon.

Fabulous Game, Excellent Fun, Great Plot Twists, Definitely in the running for Game of the Year.

5.0 out of 5 stars Assassin's Creed 3 - Join or die 23 Jan. 2013
Platform for Display:Xbox 360|Verified Purchase
As a long time fan of the Assassin's franchise, to say I was excited about Assassin's Creed 3 was an understatement. So when the Join or Die edition dropped through the letter bbox I was very keen to start playing. Though the price might seem a bit steep it is worth it. The presentation on the box is amazing. When opened up you are welcome by a small leather pouch containing Connor's medallion. Which is actually quite large. Although I can't ever recal seeing it in the game it is still a very nice touch. Underneath that was George Washinton's journal. This has some beautiful illustrations inside a is a nice little read.

The game itself was much longer that I first though it was going to be. And the scale of the map is unbelivable. But it welcomes you to come and explore it. The story itself is very good but I found to fall a little flat in places but then it quickly built itself up. The deveolpers have also made desmonds story play a little more exciting.

Another excellent reason why this game is worth the price is also for the sailing missions. Each one lets you captain a large boat and take to the waves Destroying enemy boats in a very fun and addictive manner. With the Join or Die edition you get an extra story for the naval missions. Which may not sound alot you will be glad they are there when you have done the rest.

The online in my opinion is the weakest link of the game. Although it has a few modes and an excellent mode called wolf pack where you work as a team to kill templars, it just has something missing. Which is such a shame but is still ver addictive. You also get a bonus character in the Join or Die. He basically looks like a Clint Eastwood. Back to the main game, in Join or Die you get an exclusive war club.

3.0 out of 5 stars "how d'ya like them apples!" 5 Dec. 2014
Platform for Display:Xbox 360
This is the 5th AC game.

You start off in good old England, or London to be precise, as Haytham Kenway and you are to attend a theatre play called the Beggar's Opera (which is a political comedy) in order to assassinate a friend.

You will play as this character for 3 full chapters and they can be some of the most soul destroying, will draining, slow chapters ... and yet they are in a way better than what follows. At the end of the first run though of chapter 3 you will get a trophy and you will understand the title of this review.

When you hit chapter 4 you finally meet Connor - first as a child, then in his teens, and then his twenties (though he does not age well - I thought he'd jumped to 40-something but everyone still refers to him as "boy").

From then on you have to put up with Connor, and Connor makes Desmond look like the most interesting character you've met - until you remember Ezio and then wonder why they couldn't have given Connor a personality. Connor has no emotionality to him at all (most of the time he comes over quite sulky) - whether that was deliberate or just bad voice acting by Noah Watts. Every line is delivered as if the actor was bored. I really did miss Roger Craig Smith's talent.

With animation of any sort you need the characterisation to come through the voice acting in order to make a connection with the characters, and in this case it failed for me.

I love the Assassin's Creed games and I was really looking forward to this one - it was one of the few games of 2012 that I bothered to pre-order - and yet ...

Interesting story with immersive visuals and beautiful music, new and improved gameplay mechanics and plenty to keep you occupied outside the story. Glitches are minor and don't ruin or aggravate the experience for you.
The physicals this edition comes with are a medallion of good quality and weight in a suede pouch embossed with the logo and George Washington's notebook which also contains some amazing artwork and enriching details there are even some hidden pages, it also has a gold card bookmark (which apparently is to cut open the hidden pages) with the logo on it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great game 6 May 2013
Platform for Display:Xbox 360|Verified Purchase
You can have hours and hours of fun playing with with great gameplay. Similar to the previous games but with alterations to make it feel like a whole new game. Online play stays exactly the same essentially. I recommend getting the Season pass to get the Tyranny of King Washington DLC which adds a whole new game on top.
The Join or Die Edition is one of my favourite special edition versions ever. Admittedly you're paying a more for some cheap DLC, an Assassin's pouch and a book but I really enjoyed these extras.
