I've read an interview with an Ubisoft programmer, I believe one of the head programmers or developers, who says that they aren't putting a lot of effort into the PC version where controls are concerned. He advised PC players to get a game control as they won't be making much of an effort to make it keyboard and mouse controlled!!! What the hell?! Is this the death knell for PC games? Have stupid game consoles finally won the battle of the computer game world?
they already did years ago. pc gaming has been slowly dieng for the last couple of years. battlefield 3 made it big again , but in a couple of months consoles will shine again. and whatever man , assassins creed is unplayable with mouse and keyboard anyway , just buy a gamepad the top notch graphics make up for it
Assassins Creed is totally playable with Mouse/Keyboard. Once they stopped putting stupid symbols in the on-screen (AC2) help/tutorials, and replaced them with key-indications (AC Bro), learning the setup was no problem at-all.
If they maintain the existing setup in AC3, I believe I will be happy with my significantly better graphics experience, and superior sensitivity in the controls, as provided by my PC/Keyboard/Mouse.
Personally I cannot get to grips with the sloppy slowness of using a thumb-stick for look/turn. There are many games (eg MMOs) that excel on a PC, and almost cannot be done on a Console. Consoles have a way to go yet IMHO.
I've always played with the mouse and keyboard, and I find it much easier than to play on console. The beauty of the PC is I can remap all the controls to where I want them, so much better than using a gamepad. If I wanted to use a gamepad I'd have a console.
Also PC edition, same game, 15 quid less. You pay premiums simply for using a console on every game, and you had to buy the console in the first place. Yes some games (like the early AC) are bad ports with bad directions, but I'll take my PC over an Xbox or PS3 any day.
i always use a controller on every game.infact its the first thing i look for when buying a game, i just cant get to grips with the m/k and i feel with the rumble in the gamepad it just makes the games more immersive.i also play sat on my settee on a 46 sony 3d tv (really good) like playing games in a cinema lol.just my input :-)
... I have a laptop and its awkward to use a mouse and the built in keyboard. If I had a tower I'd buy special stuff... but for now I just have a gamepad which brings back my memories of consoles...
I couldn't play Assassins Creed very well at all without my xbox controller and since I'm used to it I was happy to notice the controls copied over into 2. While I won't be getting 3 for a good few years (till I get a new laptop) I can only hope it follows similar controls.. and if not.. I can change them...
But... sorry PC gamers, I just don't have the coordination for games. I can type pretty darn fast... but.. that goes out of the window with games as simple as Tomb Raider Legend... so... yeah...
PC because I have no console, but gamepad all the way. It's not a death knoll... its just an alternate way to play that's all... and enough people must use controllers as there is that heavy option within the Assassins Creed series.
Oh yeah... that, and I love the rumble like Wayne. It just feels much better to me to feel the damage when it happens... or sense things coming because of the minute purring.
Why wait :S Just buy a Xbox 360 PC Controller for £20 and play Assassin's Creed 3 on your PC while maintaining the use of a gamepad. So long as you have a decent laptop with an alright graphics card then it is doable. Also, the controller is a great investment, as most console games end up having PC ports and are compatible.
