Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

You are Matthew Kane, a member of the elite Rhino Squad, which is leading the next wave of Earth's invasion.

The invasion force is massive and the Strogg defense is substantial. After an epic battle, and thanks to the work of you and Rhino Squad, the fleet is finally able to secure an LZ for a massive command ship.

After re-grouping, you are sent again with Rhino Squad on a dangerous mission into the heart of the Strogg base. During a deadly firefight, you are captured by the Strogg and taken to their "Stroggification" facilities.

You wake up strapped to a conveyor belt that moves you slowly through the process of converting your body into one of the Strogg. In a horrific and gruesome procedure, your body is cut and fused with metal, wires, and circuitry.

As the transformation is about to be completed with the activation of your brain implant, you are rescued by a squad of fellow Marines and returned to base.

Though you were not yet "connected" to the Strogg collective, the other modifications to your body allow you to manipulate and interface with the Strogg world in ways that no human has ever been able to before.

Realizing this new advantage, the Marines mount a massive offensive to shut down "The Nexus" (the Strogg Collective), and you are the key to accessing these previously impenetrable defenses and locations.

In the end, you are the key to victory as your squad-mates disable the Strogg defensive systems, and you bring "The Nexus" offline, and ultimately destroy the Makron.

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Firstly, having played some really inefficient Mac ports of PC games, I was pleased to find that Quake 4 runs surprisingly smoothly, and now with the latest patch, runs excellently on Intel Macs (love playing it on my MacBook Pro!).

The graphics are excellent (same engine as Doom 3 I am told), and the gameplay is very involving and addictive - I often find myself playing into the small hours, telling myself "Just one more level...".

The interface is well thought-out - unlike many of this genre, there aren't too many controls to remember. This combined with a minimalist HUD leads to an easy-to-learn and uncluttered game.

I have never been much of a gamer, but Quake 4 has me hooked! All in all, a great game.

Very fast pace and sort of mindless game, which means it's pure fun. very suitable for 9-to-5 day-to-day workers:

6pm: got back home;
6:05pm ~ 11pm: Quake time;
11pm ~ 11:15pm: shower and think about whether you should play one more level;
11:16pm: you decide to play another level;
11:17pm ~ 1am: oops you've played 3 levels already

just go for it.

Same old boring Doom 4 engine. Lacks the atmosphere and gameplay of original Quake - same as original Doom. Please someone give us the original games back, this boring flashy stuff is a waste of time.

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
To be honest, this is a slight disappointment. I love Doom 3 and all the previous versions of Quake, but this game just didn't seem to have what I wanted. Don't get me wrong, it's good, but not excellent like Doom 3.
