Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

The idea behind The Sims is this: the ultimate goal of life is to achieve happiness, and the way to achieve happiness is to satisfy your Sims' needs. That's right, The Sims allows you to create, direct and manage the lives of SimCity's residents. Each need (eg: hunger, comfort, hygiene) can be met by interacting with other Sims or objects--throw a party with the help of a rocking stereo system, and watch your Social and Fun ratings improve.

Mismanage your new, simulated family and you'll be faced with the worst of MTV's The Real World--jealousies will ignite, fights will break out, jobs will be lost and the house will fall apart.

One gameplay goal is to improve your Sim so he or she can climb the career ladder, which nets him or her more money, which allows the purchase of higher quality stuff. Eventually, your Sim will have a mate, kids and a mansion with an indoor pool.

Triumph or tragedy, each significant event in a Sim's life is captured in a snapshot and saved in a photo album for later viewing. Players can also take photos any time they wish and the best part is that you can upload the album to www.thesims.com and share your Sims' sagas with the world. Entire families can also be uploaded and downloaded, as can houses. Want to re-create and manage your own version of Friends? Download the free face and body editor and make Sim clones of Ross, Rachel and the rest. With The Sims, you can create whatever--and whomever--you desire.

Toying with the lives, successes and emotional states of dozens of little Sims is undeniably fun--limitless gameplay, endless variety, cool Internet features and the ability to play matchmaker/landlord/counsellor The Sims a great way to increase your own Fun score. --Mike Fehlauer

Product Description

From Will Wright, the creator of SimCity, comes a strategy game that hits close to home. You are in charge of a neighborhood of Sims, and it is up to you to show them that they're living in your world now! Force them into a life of crime or help them live life in the fast lane. Build them a sprawling mansion or dump them into a dilapidated shack. Let them party like swinging singles or fall in love, get married, and raise a family. They can live out your wildest dreams or experience your worst nightmares. It is up to you to decide--their fate is in your hands.

5.0 out of 5 stars Only for the nosy and interfering, 13 Nov 2001
By
Jayne Evans "Jayne" (Suffolk) - See all my reviews

This review is from: The Sims (Mac) (CD-ROM)
Since I started playing this I have been in danger of losing interest in the real world.

In the game it is possible to interfere in every aspect of your Sims lives - from not letting them use the bathroom to kissing the next door neighbours wife.

Money is earned from going to work in a variety of jobs and can then be spent on upgrading the tv and stereo or a new kitchen

Throw a party or learn how to cook in your freetime

When you start to get bored it is possible to download new purchases and Sims bodies or simply build you own

5.0 out of 5 stars Your computer life will change forever!, 28 Oct 2001
By
Mrs Paddy Holman (Preston, Lancashire United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Sims (Mac) (CD-ROM)
On the day I got The Sims I was so happy! I'd never had a computer game quite like it. Being able to recreate yourself and your family as Sims is fab, plus you can recreate your own house or instead of putting your family into your house you could build a totally new one! With so many objects and interactions you can play on The Sims for hours. Also it's not a violent game, of course you can delibrately kill off Sims you don't like by drowning them in the swimming pool or letting cook without any knowledge of cooking and no fire alarm! But killing off Sims isn't the point of the game. The Sims can even be a learning experience. Buying super expensive sofas first isn't a good idea, because you'll soon realise that you can't afford a toilet or fridge. So you get to know how to handle money. Also you can send your Sims off to work. There are loads of job options. Your Sims can make and break relationships, get married have kids and be happy, or they can get married have lovers attack each other and become very depressed! It's up to you!
I can carry on on for years! But I'll end by saying:
THE SIMS IS THE GREATEST!
Miss it, Miss out!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great game for those who are creative or control freaks, 29 Jan 2003
This review is from: The Sims (Mac) (CD-ROM)
This game allows you to make and control your own people called Sims. You create a family of up to 8, then you buy a lot for them, build their house and move them in! You control their lives, make them successful in their careers and build their relationships. You get them money to build better houses and buy them luxury items.

This game can keep me amused for hours and hours and I really love the creative side of this game - building their houses and also, creating paintings and things for use in the game. This game is very addictive!

I think that I would advise this game to just about any age. You can really unwind from life with The Sims - great to play when you're fed up.
