This laptop is extremely fast, and it seems acer have got all the specs for the right price. Luckily this doesn't show too much on it's looks. However I did expect the keyboard to have a light to indicate "Caps log" but his has not really affected me at all yet. Also trying to use windows 8 with a touchpad feels like eating spaghetti with a knife, it just feels wrong, and I found it very difficult. Once I had a mouse though I found windows 8 to be a breeze. In short, if you have a limited budget, or even a slightly bigger budget than that, this laptop is probably one of the best options available.

I have this laptop about 6 weeks now and I am very pleased with it. I'm leaving work so I bought it as a replacement for the work laptop which I'm returning. Mostly I've used it for general web access, viewing videos and programming (inside a linux virtual box) and it's proved to be very fast and well able to handle anything I've thrown at it.
I haven't bothered learning the Windows 8 user interface and have managed well with use of Windows key + D and Windows key + X to get back to a Windows 7 type interface (together with Alt F4 for closing any Windows 8 apps that happen to open). Once there I've downloaded all the open source / free software which I prefer to Micro$oft etc - Firefox, OpenOffice, VLC, Skype, GIMP etc - and all is working well.
There have been a few little niggles:
- after connecting to wifi (especially different wifi hot spots) it took a couple of minutes before I could actually connect to a site over the internet. However, I reckon that this was due to the mcafee virus software that comes with it, and since I removed that and installed AVG instead I haven't had any problems.
- the mouse track pad is very sensitive but the sensitivity can be reduced via control panel, or easily switched off completely via Fn F7 if you use a separate mouse.
- on one instance the charger became very hot, which worried me somewhat, but this doesn't seem to have recurred.
I decided on this PC based on the spec vs price, and haven't been disappointed.

Replacement for a well used 11.6 inch ACER laptop which I found great but as it was used more and more found the screen to be a little small. Got this to be a mainly permanent fixture not portable which is just as well as it is a little heavy but this is to be expected as its also large screen with a full keyboard.
Still getting used to Windows 8 but that is no fault of the Laptop, and ACER has tried to help by adding a closedown button onto their desktop apps.
LIke it a lot and well worth the money.
Windows 8 is quite logical really but if you don't like it old desktop is still there.

This is definitely the last Acer product I've bought. After less than a month the left hand side of the screen had stopped working. Believing that the repair was covered by the manufacturer's guarantee, I sent the laptop back to Acer. However, a few days later I received a quote of over £90 to have the computer fixed. Apparently, damages to the Lcd screen are not covered by the warranty. I would have understood that dropping a laptop isn't covered, but this happened during normal everyday use. Customer service were most unhelpful, insisting that the damage couldn't have just occurred during normal use and that something must have happened without me noticing. Absolutely useless! The machine was OK (not brilliant, just OK) while it was working, but for the price I've paid including the repair I would have been able to buy a much better laptop! Don't be tempted by the relatively good price...you are likely to get very bad value for your money.

This is an excellent laptop, however, through no fault of Acer, it has not been easy to get to grips with Windows 8. Now that I am more familiar with Windows 8, you realise what a brilliant laptop this is. If you are looking for a reasonably high spec laptop, at a fair price, this could be your answer.

Picked up this laptop in time for Uni in September. So far, I've been using it for web browsing, music/video playback and programming. Works great.

Integrated graphics mean that it's not a great choice for gaming or video editing (I'm sticking to the PC for that). Otherwise, it's pretty good value for the price.

That said, if you can, get rid of Windows 8 and the bundled software and install Windows 7 in its place.

The machine itself is brilliant. Being an older user the keyboard is just right for me. Windows 8 is a bit daunting but after getting someone in to give is a few tweaks i.e putting a start button on. It is working well.

This item is one of the best things I have bought on Amazon! I bought it Used - Like New for £70 cheaper than the Amazon version. It has 6GB of RAM rather than the 4GB £319.99 Amazon version. Everything works fine and as expected, I didn't like Windows 8 and installed Windows 7 in it's place. It was possible after a lot of fiddling with the BIOS, there are guides on the internet, but I thought it would just do it, and did the wrong thing. There was a day of thinking myself so stupid for breaking my new computer before it had only been here no more than 2 days! I got a 423 with Nova Bench. Overall it is a great buy, really worth my money. I would recommend to anybody looking for a fast laptop computer!
