Took a few min to get into as most board games do for the first time, but after that we've had a lot of fun playing this.
We ended up altering some rules for the cards you can draw as one of your two actions to make sure the game would last longer and be more fun.
The game is easy to learn (we've had games with a lot more confusion) and a lot of fun with 2-4 people. The pieces and tiles are nicely made and we felt it was good value for money.

This is a brilliant game, and has turned out to be my girlfriends favorite. The quality of the pieces is excellent and the cute designs really make it a pretty game to play (i like my board games to look great). It's simple enough to be enjoyed by younger people, but there's enough strategy to make it quite competitive for any age.

I play a lot of games with just my girlfriend, and it's hard to tell what works with 2 players and what claims to but fails horribly, so incase there's anyone in teh same situation, this one works just as well with 2 as it does with a group

Firstly, the game artwork is cute. No one likes an ugly game, no matter how good the gameplay. But they haven't skimped on the gameplay either. The game is fun and not too complicated to learn. I haven't played it enough to get into complex strategy, but I can tell that the more one plays, the more interesting it will be to play as players learn better strategies. Finally, I played with my father, who hates board and card type games. I had to cajole him into the first game, but he has actually initiated several games since then. So, all in all I can say that it is fun to play, easy to learn, and visually stimulating.

There are only two (mildly) negative things I have to say about the game. First, I wish they had included more wooden action markers. One of the variables of gameplay is that you get an extra action, but because there are only two action markers per player, another marker would have been nice. Not a hard problem to solve at all, though, I just use one of the spare gray cutout pieces. The other thing is that this game probably doesn't appeal so much to hardcore gamers, as I suspect it will turn out to be a little too simple, with not enough variables for people who game a lot. However, for beginners or younger players, it's an excellent game, and for more experienced gamers, it is cute and good for a few games or games with less game-inclined friends. Not least of all because no one doesn't want to play a game with pandas! Overall, I would say it's an excellent addition to any game collection.

The game is beautifully made, the rules are learnable in approx 10 minutes. The only negative is that the land plot tiles are a little tricky to shuffle so this is best left to the 13yrs+ players, otherwise this is a game for anyone. An ideal family game where the modular board is different in every game.

This game is a good modern-euro game. It has a similar point scoring mechanism to Ticket to Ride, and people I have played with have agreed that it is a similar level of complexity (i.e. a good "gateway" game for people who still think that Monopoly and Scrabble are the best games out there).

This game stands out for being one of the most relaxing games. Though it is competitive, both the theme and the mechanics are quite peaceful. Players are more likely to accidentally help each other than hinder.

There is nothing wrong with this game (if you're happy with the theme), but the only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is that it has a bit less replayability than some other games, I suspect because of it's lack of tension. After the first time I played it, I did want to play again, but after that day I have never felt the urge to play it more than once. The lack of 1 star should be seen as my personal preference to have a little bit more tension in an average game, not as a sign of the game lacking anything it claims to include.

It is a good medium sized game, lasting about an hour, and at the end you will usually feel happy yet ready for whatever game will be played next.

Great board game for adults and kids - i did simplify it a little for small children by ignoring the irrigation rules, and just saying that every tile put down was irrigated, but its a great board game, with great artwork and design

lasts about 30-45 mins usually

If your into gaming in a proper way (i.e. beyond Monopoly and Trivial Pursuit) this is a great game for introducing younger players and those less geeky than you. Each player has a set of objectives (to grow bamboo, feed the panda and lay out more grid tiles) which are achieved by working together (although this is unintentional). Like many games you have two actions on each go to try and achieve these tasks as well as a dice throw which may or may not help. Playing time is not too long (usually can be done within an hour or less). Rules may seem complex at first but even my 4 and 5 year old boys and the Grandparents were OK after a couple of practice runs. The price tag may seem high but the production values are reflected in this. Each piece of bamboo as well as the figures are very well made and durable - almost too good to use! Overall:

PROS:
Quick, well made pieces, easy to pick up rules, endless variety of games and fun.

CONS:
High price.
