5.0 out of 5 stars A trio of legends in a hilarious classic., 25 Sep 2000
By kingofhorror@usa.net (London, England) - See all my reviews
Ask a Policeman is the film that completes a Will Hay collection. Like all of his other films it is hilarious. You won't stop laughing at the chilidish squables, brainless theories and the general slapstick comedy that this trio generate. Like all of the Will Hay films they are only as good as the actors. Graham Moffatt and Moore Marriott are the two brainless comedy assistants who are two of the greatest, most talented actors the world has ever seen. Ask a Policeman is a story about a policestation in a small quiet village where there is no crime. Well not that they know of. The police station is run by three men. Guess who? Yep, Will Hay, Moore Marriott and Graham Moffatt. After being told that their police station will be closed due to the lack of crime in the area the three deicde to find some crime. After a few hopeless attempts at catching speeding cars, they accidentally discover that smuggling is going on in the village. The combination of finding the smugglers and then deciding what to do ends in a side-splittingly funny adventure. My advice: BUY IT!

5.0 out of 5 stars An absolute classic of its kind, 27 Sep 2000
By A Customer
As an avid Hay fan, it's difficult to judge which is my very favourite. But 'Ask a Policeman' is well up there with the others. The "boys" are in wonderful form throughout, with some of the very best comedy timing you're ever likely to see on screen. A wonderful plot and sublime acting seldom seen these days. Thoroughly recommended

5.0 out of 5 stars Faultless Comedy from a classic team., 29 April 2002
By R. J. Lenthall "Rella" (Amsterdam) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Timeless. The plot is simple but never overwhelmed by the jokes and the acting is sublime for a comedy film of this era. The "Speed Trap" scene and the final chase sequence are just a mark of comedy genius.
