Product Description

Product Description

Graham Norton is best known as a television presenter, chat show host and comedian. His warm demeanour and dry wit has endeared him to the nation and he is well on his way to securing the status of a national treasure. But as well as presenting and acting, Graham also fulfils another professional role: that of agony uncle to readers of The Daily Telegraph. Every week, scores of people write to Graham with their problems, hoping that his wise words will ease their worries or at least point them in the direction of a solution to their particular concern. The woes about which Graham is asked to offer advice are wide-ranging and include topics such as ungrateful spouses, errant partners, failing relationships, problems in the workplace and social etiquette. Each perfectly-pitched response from Graham includes just the right mixture of sound advice, humour and, occassionally, reprimand. We are, after all, fascinated with other people's problems and the winning combination of a glimpse into another's life couples with a wise and witty response makes for fascinating reading. This entertaining and often poignant book is a collection of the very best reponses to a selection of problems from the man who is rapidly becoming the nation's favourite agony uncle.

I bought the book for two reasons. One, I like reading problem pages and Two I love Graham's humour. This humour is present throughout his replies. But what was a complete surprise was how good his advice actually is. And if he is still writing his column, I hope he brings out a second volume.
I think he is a worthy successor to the late Claire Raynor. I just hope she doesn't come back to haunt him for pinching her crown!

The whys and wherefors of daily life can be questionable. And I've often asked myself why? Sometimes there's no answer. Now up pops 'Ask Graham'. Here at least Graham Norton has a good go at attempting to respond to the vagaries we so often find ourselve in. By doing so, he ensures we are entertained with his characteristic humour which makes 'Ask Graham' a nice little book to dip in to and surface with a smile. It certainly made me feel buoyant.Pets in Prospect
