Asian Palate is a journey through Asia's culinary capitals blending the best of regional cuisines with the growing popularity of wine at Asian Tables.
Asian Palate takes a perceptive look at how culture and history influenced the flavours of regional cuisines. The book covers the changing tastes of Asians who are now savouring traditional food with an increasing fondness for wine.
Asian Palate features the food and beverage cultures of 10 major Asian cities, namely Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Taipei, Tokyo, Seoul, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Mumbai. It features recommendations on food and wine matching based on the Asian dining concepts, notably the communal dining style and banquets.
This is the first of a two-part offering and the companion book, Mastering Wine at the Asian Table, will be published in 2010. Also, look out for author Jeannie Cho Lee's multilingual website, www.asianpalate.com, which will include her wine reviews and ratings as well as a wealth of information on Asian cuisine and wine.
