As a genealogist researching one of my ancestors who fell at Asiago, this book was an exceptional scource of information. It not only details the events of the fighting on the Plateau, by using diagrams and old map clippings, but also gives trouring routes so that visitors can follow the directions to the trenches, underground hospital and also the Commonwelth War Graves etc which still exist. Having visited the area, using the book as a guide, I can vouch for its usefullness.

A must for anyone visiting Asiago and interested in touring this forgotten British battlefield. It sets the scene from the strategic to tactical levels but above all the author brings you individual accounts which are moving tales of heroism and sacrifice. I elected to follow the story of Captain Edward Brittain MC but also studied and was in awe of the Victoria Cross actions. I congratulate the author on his succinct and illuminating account of this forgotten battle in the woods and clouds fought through the beautiful landscapes around Asiago. The ugliness of war contrasts so movingly with the beauty of nature. I also recommend the Asiago 1:25.000 map although it does not offer cover of the forward left/western positions.Altopiano di Asiago. Con carta 1:25.000
