5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic value for money... 31 Dec 2011
Colour Name:Black
I was gifted this bass at Christmas by my fiancée as a surprise present and had that timeless mixture of joy/happiness/fear that any guitarist would have when someone else who knows nothing about guitars, has bought them one as a present, on a whim.

...well let me just say, I am one lucky man; this bass is simply fantastic.

As an accomplished guitarist, I've tinkered with basses from time to time and even owned a few, but this is by far the best I've heard/played; and by no means what-so-ever the most expensive.

A pleasure to play, the tone is warm and the action is simply fantastic right the way up the fret-board...something which for the price, really is astounding. It stays in tune almost impeccably with some rather vigorous playing; and plugged into an amp this bass just gets better and better...it's flawless and exactly the dream semi-acoustic bass I was looking for.

I can't sing (...or should that be slap?) enough praise and can only say, if you're looking for an affordable bass for recording/gigging/picking up and playing without having to plug in - then look no further.

Trust me, you won't regret it.

first of all let me say that I bought my Ashton Acoustic bass from Amazon Warehouse Deals for 86, and based on that price I would say it was excellent, but to pay 179 BN price for the bass i would only give it 3 stars.

Ive only plugged it in once, and the strings are still really new so it was a little bit tingy, but that could be damped, with the sound controls on the bass. there is also a DI input also. Let me also say that all guitars with onboard tuners need a 9V battery, even though it comes with one, ive never known them have any power, so make sure you have one handy.

My purpose for it is just to doodle around while watching some forgetable TV and Its nice to play, action is a little too low as there is some fret noise from the lower end of the fretboard, also if you play any chords on it, it will rattle, maybe im a little too agressive with it, but for me it serves a purpose.

As ive said, I bought it nearly new and saved 45% on the amazon brand new price, I would not pay 180 for it, but upto 100 yes.
