Book Description
The 68th annual Edition (it has been published every year since 1933) of Ashley Courtenay's discerning person's guide to a selection of some of the best hotels and inns throughout Great Britain and Ireland has been totally restyled for the new millennium. A more convenient size, clearer presentation and improved full-colour illustrations go hand-in-hand with a policy of even more stringent hotel inspection criteria.
The 2001 edition, available in March, is bound in a stylish eye-catching paperback cover and finished with a high-gloss lamination for durability and good looks. Each independently-inspected and approved establishment is fully described and illustrated on its own page comprising a 250-word incisive description, full contact details, the hotel's latest tariff prices and facilities, nearby amenities and an attractive landscape, or portrait, colour photograph.
Linked to the 2001 guide is one of the United Kingdom's largest fully-interactive hotel internet sites, through which Ashley Courtenay will book accommodation at any of its recommendations completely free of charge. The guide also includes details of how one can book via Ashley Courtenay's Central Reservations Office, open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
Ashley Courtenay is the hotel guide that started the whole genre way back on the 1930's. Although many guides have disappeared from the country's bookshelves, 'The guide by which others judge themselves' is right back where it belongs. It looks brand new, yet has gone back to its roots to achieve it.
