Ordered this item as we have had some trouble locally with kids raiding garages.
The existing lock was not hugely strong and I wanted a solution that was reasonably priced and robust. These locks looked just the job.

Fitting was a bit tricky as the metal garage door is ribbed vertically and so fitting the bolts to slide into the side pillars was not viable. So I fitted them vertically at the bottom of the door to slide into the concrete floor.
A template for drilling the holes required would be very helpful as trying to measure and drill the holes accurately was quite difficult.
Also fitting to a metal door requires some unusual drill bit sizes which I didn't own meaning I had to buy 3 drill bits - an 11mm HSS, a 3.5mm HSS and either 13 or 17 mm bits to make the holes to receive the bolts (the larger if the metal reinforcing sleeves are to be used)the latter being quite pricey as I required masonry bits for the concrete.

Having now fitted them I am very happy with the quality and the door is now immovable when the bolts are in place. The key hole covers are very nice looking too.

The three keys supplied are strong and robust and very secure. Note they will only fit the lock one way round and it's not easy to tell immediately which is right, so chances of getting it right first time are slim. Especially as they are not the same orientation on both locks when fitted vertically!

In summary - I'm very pleased with the quality and added security, but fitting was a bit of a pain!

Nice solidly made pair of locks.
For ham-fisted DIYers like me, they are relatively easy to fit BUT you need a drill with a large capacity chuck!.
Look at the how to do it video on youtube - very helpful!!
A drilling template would be a help!
Be warned - the screws for the escutcheon plate may be a bit too long for some types of metal garage door.

Ordered these as I felt my garage wasn't as secure as I'd like it to be.
Due to door design, I already knew that I would have to fit them vertically after reading the previous reviews.
The fitting was pretty straightforward for a competent DIY'er with a decent kit of tools, albeit a bit "fiddly"
My biggest problem was caused by what is a fairly basic design flaw.
The lock escutcheons are intended to be secured by screws supplied.
These screws are far too long unless your garage door is thick enough for a nuclear bunker!
I had already decided to use "pop" rivets instead as these aren't as easy to remove once fitted.
However, the case for the lock should have a pressed in relief to accommodate the screw or rivet.
I got round the problem by fitting spacers I made myself but this added about an hour to the time & shouldn't be necessary.
Had this simple feature not been missed by the designers this would be a five star review.

Theft from our garage has stopped. Bit diddly to install but can get guidance from YouTube like we did and it was much easier than it looked.

I`ve only given this item 4/5 because it had no washers which are needed
This is what I did:
I put the locks on the outside of the door and on the inside I used two pieces of wood (good pine) one for each lock, about twice the length,BUT the same thickness as each lock to replace the missing washers,Then added two washers for each bolt(eight in total) which I bought,Then add the nuts. Job done.(VERY EASY TO DO)
THE LOCKS:
Are very high quality.(BUT BECAUSE I PUT THEM ON THE OUTSIDE) I used a silicone oil spray the make them weather proof..
All in now the locks are 5/5

This is a fine looking sturdy bolt, unfortunately I dropped mine from a bit of a height straight on to the end of the bolt and it jumped the rack internally meaning the key would not come out at the end of the stroke. Luckily you can open them up so I repaired it easily but its a poor rack and pinion system inside. Be careful if you watch the You Tube video on fitting it if your garage is a Grimston because you will find once you have drilled all the holes in the door and mounted the lock the bolt doesn't align with the wood door frame for the bolt to slide into, I had to pack my bolt out by a half inch to line up with the door frame, the bolts are long enough for you to do this and its not such a big job. I am happy with the security aspect and the seller is quick in dispatching.

3 stars due to fitting of the product. If you have a garage door with nice big and vertical metal slats it will be a lot easier. Or if the door is flat, but this is a rarity. Now it's fitted it works well.
