On Ascolta, the follow-up to Libera Me, Izzy forges an individual path between classical, MOR and folk. Reworking famous classical and opera melodies, the production has all the gloss of the eponymous debut by Filippa Giordano, the difference being that the songs are largely sung in English and electronics are kept to an atmospheric minimum; imagine a collaboration between Lesley Garrett and Andrew Lloyd Webber on a new version of Riverdance, then leave out the fast bits. Indeed, the famous "Hovis" music from Dvorák's "New World" Symphony is used as the basis for the sentimental ballad "Going Home", exactly the song Lesley Garrett might carry to great popularity. Elsewhere Albinoni's "Adagio in G minor for Organ and Strings" becomes the introduction to "Una furtiva lagrima" and Borodin's "Stranger in Paradise" is transformed into "Song of our Homeland", both complemented by lush orchestral arrangements of folk stalwarts, "My Love is Like a Red Red Rose", "Down by the Salley Gardens" and a striking "The Lost Lady Found". Soprano Izzy certainly has a beautiful voice, and this sensual, gentle album charms in its curious hybrid way. --Gary S Dalkin

Ascolta is much easier on the ear for the not-so-serious-classic music fan. Perfect "chill-out" music. Should be appreciated by classic, folk, & light, music lovers everywhere.

I only discovered the CD "Ascolta" a week ago when I was overwhelmed by the beautiful sound of Izzy's rendering of "Be Still My Soul" whilst driving my car. I immediately purchased the CD and discovered that the remainder of the CD contents was of the same high standard. I particularly liked "Una Furtiva Lagrima" but "Be Still My Soul" is one of the most glorious pieces of music that I have ever heard - and I am 73 years of age!

I bought this recording because I had heard the first track "Una Furtiva Lagrima" and the last track "Be Still my Soul" on Classic FM. The other tracks are just as compulsive listening and perfect for tedious, or stressful, car journeys. These days I never drive anywhere without it. I intend to buy any other recordings that Izzy makes. Taking advantage of the calm that this lady's voice induces is a habit to be encouraged.

Asclta album, Izzy.
Received promptly in good condition. This was an out of date album which I couldn't find elsewhere. Well worth trying this site.

Enchanting!
Izzy's interpretation of every track is utterly delightful.I can not stop listening to it.'Be still my soul'is pure simple magic.Well done Izzy and encore.
