Review

"This series has a bit of everything--magic, myth, action, romance...ah, the romance! There is something so appealing about forbidden love, especially when it leads to a happily-ever-after. I have to say, I love the way this ended. Of course, I won't give spoilers, but the ending was perfect." --"Diary of A Bibliophile"

"Hocking is so talented in her ability to mold characters and have them grow, a rare talent many authors lack. She has the ability to make the growth of these characters amazingly realistic. Now, I won't give anything away but I will say READ them! They are amazing!" -"The First 100 Pages "

"I read these three books back-to-back-to-back. The story had me so engaged, that I could not put it down. I was reading in the car, at school, on my bed, at the dinner table, and in the media room. You could call it an obsession." -"Reading Vacation Reviews"

""

"""Loved this book! One of the best final books I've ever read. I feel like the ending went a little fast but Im a sucker for a nice happy ending and I just plain LOVE this series!" -"Library Thing"

"""With each book, we have seen Wendy transition from a young girl to a strong heroine. And with the romance, Hocking throws in a nice surprising twist that was refreshing, and which makes "Ascend" shine even brighter. The Trylle Trilogy is recommended for all paranormal fans no matter what your age." -"Nocturne Romance Reads""""A very fast read, I really enjoyed it and recommend it to anyone that likes romance, conflict, and the paranormal." -"Kathy's Book Bag"

3.0 out of 5 stars Final book a huge disappointment 22 May 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I loved the first two books in the trylle series, I loved everything about them, the story, the characters but i think the third book really lets the series down. It started off good but about half way through i felt a change, i could see where it was heading, and i didnt like it. The ending is wishy washy, it seems rushed and just doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the story.

But for me the biggest disappointment which ruined the whole series was how it ended romantically, I just don't understand the reasoning behind it, it seems our hearts were let to believe one thing and you could feel the love so strongly between the characters for it to be then switched to something else. It just didn't seem right and for me a huge disappointment is an understatement.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it! 3 July 2012
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
An amazing trilogy! At first I thought they'd be suitable for my 13 year old daughter, but once I started the 1st one, they had me hooked! My daughter has started reading them too, but she does tend to read books at a higher age range so don't let that put you off!

Format:Kindle Edition
This Book was an amazing ending to a wonderful series of books! I read all three of the books in one go and the conection with the main character was great! I loved the ending but like someone alredy said if you have not read the previous books then it will be harder to understand... I would definately recomend this series of books and also the author - Amanda Hocking!!!

(SPOILER WARNING: reveals certain key elements of the plot)
I have now read all three books in the series, and in my opinion, they decline in quality as you read them.
The first one, when I read it, was good enough; a little easy and frequently resorting to poor and undetailed language, but with a plot that did not fall apart as soon as you looked at it.
The second, I was annoyed at how Wendy manages to escape from Ondarike so easily, it really seemed just to be a way for the author to A: insert Loki into the story, and B: take up some more pages.
Having always liked Tove, I was satisfied with her engagement to him, since it at least had some depth and reason. At this point, I knew that she wouldn't be with him forever, though, and I was leaning towards the prospect of her marrying Finn in the end, as the books up to now had done a lot with building their relationship.
In Ascend, I felt the plot really started to go downhill. Elora's death was anticlimactic and turns out to be pretty much the only protagonist's death in the entire trilogy that is named. The others all feature in stories or unnamed happenings (such as the Vittra attack in the first book) and despite many of the characters often being in near-death situations, I never felt any real excitement because I knew that the chances of any of them dying were very low indeed.
The climax was a battle in Ondarike. Turns out it was pretty much the shortest battle in history, ending when Wendy gives Oren a headache and cuts off his head after feeling nothing more than `Really Pissed Off' about the fact that Loki has just been killed (but don't worry! He'll come back to life later!
